The Disco Biscuits, On Time

The Disco Biscuits are taking the pre-order game to a whole new level. Everyone and their mother does the signed CD/poster/ticket bundle (which they’ll be doing too), but that’s not the good stuff. Starting TODAY fans have the opportunity to pre-order an autographed copy of Planet Anthem (Out March 16th via their own Diamond Riggs/ILG) and pick from over 32 different combination options. These (most awesome) options include but are not limited to:

* Dinner with the band

* An opportunity to sing on the next Biscuits record

* Writing the band’s setlist for a night

* Shots of Jameson with the band

* Playing a song with the band on stage during a show

* Guitar/Bass/Keyboard/Drum lessons with a band member

* Attending a Philadelphia Eagles game with the band

* Playing tennis verses the band

For a full list and pre-ordering, check out http://planetanthem.com/

From press release:

Planet Anthem marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band. Since they formed in 1995, the guys created their own movement by fusing the jam band and electronic music scenes. However, their forthcoming release prominently features elements of pop, indie dance, hip hop, and straight up rock music. This is not the band you think they are. This is a band that makes damn good pop songs that, if you gave them a chance, would resonate with you. Don’t be scared, give it a whirl.

The Biscuits collaborated for the first time with multiple producers, songwriters, and outside musicians, including Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry (Ludacris, Chris Brown, Beanie Sigel). The result is an album filled with sing along melodies and infectious beats. Another first, the new video for “You and I” has been added to rotation at both MTV2 and MTVu and the band is going to be hosting Subterranean as well.

After plowing through 5 sold-out dates at Nokia Theatre in NYC over New Years and four sold-out shows at Boulder, CO’s Fox Theatre in January, The Biscuits will hit the road again starting tonight in Baltimore. The band will be performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami alongside Tiesto, Deadmau5, Carl Cox, Passion Pit, Major Lazer and more. They’ll also be playing Bonnaroo 2010 this June in Manchester, TN. They also just announced details for the annual music festival they put together, Camp Bisco, which is now in in 9th year.  Past performers have included Snoop Dogg, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, The Roots, MSTRKRFT, Nas and Damien Marley, Girl Talk, and Kid Cudi.  This year, the event will take place July 15 – 17 in Mariaville, New York. Lastly, the Biscuits will be hosting their even Bisco Inferno at Red Rocks on May 29th. This year’s lineup will feature Aeroplane, Pnuma Trio, The Crystal Method (DJ Set), Booka Shade, The Glitch Mob and of course 2 sets of the Biscuits.

Prolific remixer Classixx has produced a light and playful remix of Groove Armada’s Black Light highlight “Paper Romance,” replacing the hard four-to-the-floor of the original track with bubbling synths, softly skittering drums, and delicate, swooning guitars that bring out the passionate vocal takes from SaintSavior and Fenech-Soler.

MUSICAL MEMORIES

I am looking for EVERYONE’S contributions for a project of mine. You don’t have to know a lot about music, you don’t have to write well, this is something for everyone.

You know how when you hear certain songs, you’re taken back to a different time in your life? Like every time you hear Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” you think about the night you and your college buddies drank too many shots of Surfers of Acid and played too much air guitar?!! Or how Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” reminds you of helping Grandma clean the house?!

We all have these musical memories. There is a link in the brain between music familiarity, memories and emotions. I’m asking for you to email me YOUR musical memory. It can be heartwarming, funny—anything really. Just start it out with the name of the song and the artist, then tell me your story that goes along with it. By emailing me your musical memory you give me permission to use it for possible publication (so if you don’t want you real name used, let me know!).

I’m going to be working out some sort of incentive for this, too — it will have something to do with Visa gift cards and/or mix cd’s.

Thanks!!! 🙂

Pretty Good Dance Moves

Pretty Good Dance Moves = ingenious band name!

Formed in Chicago, IL and now based out of Brooklyn, electro-pop duo Pretty Good Dance Moves will release their long-awaited new EP, PGDM on March 9. The duo, Jimmy Giannapoulos and Aaron Allieta,  created an EP full of slinky synthesizers and seductive dance beats. The duo scoured the globe for vocalists and found voices to complement their laid-back, synth-pop sound, recruiting several important guest stars, including Chicago vocalist Angelina Lucero and singer-songwriter Heather Christian. You can hear the results on the band’s single “Leave Me Alone,” which features Swedish pop legend Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn & John on vocals and also as co-writer. Stereogum premiered the track, calling it “a triumphant little electro-pop track that tickles hearts and synths.” Preview it here.

PGDM’s first EP was released in 2006. The video  for their single “Demons Dancing,” stars Flight of the Conchord’s Kristen Schaal!

Track Listing for PGDM

1.       Sample Your Body (ft. Angelina Lucero)
2.      Leave Me Alone (ft. Bjorn Yttling)
3.      600 Days (ft. Heather Christian)
4.      Tear Us Up (feat. Sydney Wayser)
5.      Alive Tonight (ft. Angelina Lucero)
6.      Leave Me Alone (Infernal Devices Remix)

The Music Tee

Why hasn’t this been thought of before?

A joint venture between Girlie Action and L.A.-based innovator Invisible DJ, The Music Tee is a new and unique way for musicians to sell their music while creating a new outlet for fans to experience music and album art together again. It’s a shirt that has ‘cover art’ on the front and a track list on the back. Each shirt comes with a hang tag with a unique URL to download the music from TheMusicTee.com. The Music Tee is registered with Nielsen SoundScan, so each download counts as an album sale. The point is to help artists find a new platform to actually sell their music again while combining fashion and music. Past artist tees that are still available include The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Kid Sister,  The Dim Mak Dance Compilation #1, Monsters of Folk, Mos Def and more!

“As fashionistas everywhere know, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys are two of the best places in New York to update your closet, but now they are also two of the best places to load your iPod. Thanks to the Music Tee…”

– New York Times
