Download: Track and Mixtape from Gemini Club

Indie-electronic dance band, Gemini Club, are pleased to announce their new tour dates for this September.  The three-piece have wowed their hometown of Chicago for the past two years with their unique live shows and now, for the first time, are expanding their live performance to North America’s North East.  The band will be performing songs from the Future Tidings EP as well as their lastest EP release, Here We Sit.

Part of the band’s live allure lies within their tech-savvy nature. Known for their innovative techniques, the band have developed their own “rigs” which allow on-the-fly remixing of the songs, creating one-of-kind performances unlike any other.

In addition, the band will be carrying out a new mixtape series every month.  Pigeons and Planes has just premiered the first of the series which can be heard and downloaded here.  Furthermore, the band has recently released their third single from the Here We Sit EP, “Sparklers”.

Newest Love: Gemini Club

“They have a synth-pop sound that just makes you want to dance, whether you’re at a dance party, in you car, or in your office cubicle and bursts with energy.” – CBS Chicago

“If you like to, you know…dance, we think it’s a pretty safe bet, since this three-piece electro-indie dance band is on a mission to make you move.” – Refinery 29

Gemini Club, consisting of Dan Brunelle, Tom Gavin and Gordon Bramli, is a three-piece indie-electronic dance band hailing from Chicago, Illinois. Their unique live shows have been tearing up the scene for the last two years, and commencing dizzying dance parties in every city they go! Far from the conventional live performance, Gemini Club have a specially designed rig that allows for on-the-fly remixing of their own songs meaning each Gemini Club show is different from the last. As a result, Gemini Club has been asked to the support the likes of Chromeo, A-Trak, Two Door Cinema Club, Who-Made-Who, DJ Falcon and Chateau Marmont.

Their first single, “Ghost” came out hot in the blogosphere, resulting in remixes from Hey Champ, Barretso, Golden Bug and Only Children. The track has since been picked up for airplay from BBC Radio 1′s tastemaker show “In New DJs We Trust.”

From the mid-west to the Orient, Gemini Club’s own remix chops are in demand online and across the globe. Their remix for Australian band The Vanish went straight into the top ten of Hype Machine’s charts. The band’s spin on Hey Champ’s “Cold Dust Girl” entered the same top ten charts on five different occasions within a month – and their remix for Shinichi Osawa has been a mainstay on the iTunes dance charts in Japan. Most recently, the gents of GC’s remix of Chilly Gonzales song “You Can Dance” premiered on the RCRD LBL blog as the most downloaded track of the week.

Free Download: The Hood Internet’s Debut Album!

Click image to go download the album for free

I’m very happy to present to you the newest release from Chicago duo The Hood Internet, a self-titled compilation of original remixes and production. Known for their amazing mashups (many of which were showcased on their two prior  releases with Мишка, Trillwave and Trillwave 2), The Hood Internet are also bangin’ producers and remixers. The proof is in this album.

For over four years, Aaron Brink (ABX) and Steve Reidell (STV SLV)  have been blogosphere maintstays with their musical work as The Hood  Internet. Seeing the opportunity in a genre that many had written off,  The Hood Internet almost single handedly ran the mashup game.

If you’ve heard their music, you know they ran it well. However,  during that time they’ve also been hard at work on original material and remixes, many of which are collected here for the first time. We  already premiered “The Future,” the first single off the comp, and now the whole thing is available for streaming and free download.

Enjoy production for artists like Ninjasonik, BBU, Das Racist, Johnny Nelson, Freddie Gibbs and original remixes of songs by Tobacco, Foster The People, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, and many more.

As expected, it’s another great entry into the constantly expanding  Hood Internet canon. Also be sure to check out the video for the  story behind their cover art (I’ll give you a hint: it involves over  $400 worth of Taco Bell).

Newest Love: Caveman

Gino DePinto, AOL

Caveman is pleased to announce the digital release of their debut album CoCo Beware on September 13th, followed by the physical CD and vinyl release on November 15th. Exploding out of the New York scene over the last few months, the band has decided to get this “hot off the presses” album out as soon as possible via a digital self-release. The fans wanted it, so the fans get it — a straight-ahead ethos for a band that’s about the music FIRST.

In honor of the New York five-piece’s first release, the band has made “Old Friend” available as a free download, premiering the track with Fader Magazine this morning. Recorded and produced by Nick Stumpf (French Kicks), CoCo Beware showcases the dreamy chamber pop and multi-part harmonies that have been turning heads at the band’s live shows for the better part of a year. Leading up to the release of their debut, Caveman will also be heading out on tour with The War On Drugs, hitting the east coast, midwest and Canada before returning to New York to celebrate their album release at the Mercury Lounge on Thursday, September 15th.

Listen/download: Caveman – “Old Friend”

For Caveman, the last year and half have been a whirlwind. Formed in New York back in January of 2010, the band has gone from relative unknowns to opening for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic, Cursive, Wye Oak and Yuck in a little under a year. Listening to CoCo Beware, it’s easy to see why the band has garnered so much attention in such a short period of time. Caveman’s lush four-part harmonies, spaced-out guitars, and inventive percussion come together perfectly on the tracks “Easy Water” and “My Room.”

To get a further taste of the album, watch the quintet perform their tracks “Vampirer/Old Friend” at the Fader Fort HERE. Also, in a more public setting, Caveman run through “Decide” on FADER.tv HERE. And you can see a live version of “Easy Water” on IFC HERE.

New Label: Rock It Science Labs

Rock It Science Laboratories is a fresh music label that zooms forth from one of San Francisco’s favorite
warehouse party-maker crews turned club promoters, musicians and remixers.
“Wiggle Room” is the first release on the Rock It Science Laboratories label. DJ Fame and Eric Sharp have all thrusters going full throttle, turning out a twister of a track.
There’s some “Wiggle Room” remixes already, too.  Two high honored cadets of the Chicago club sound, Santiago & Bushido take it on as well as Trillbass who takes us to the dark forest of Dubstep, winding us down creepy turns and shivering drops. Finally Andrew Phelan and George Cochrane make the list here as well.
Check all of it out at BeatPort by clicking here.
Also, I’ve got a free download for ya! It’s another Groove Armada “Paper Romance” remix by the aforementioned Eric Sharp. After having a listen to a lot of remixes for “Paper Romance,” I gotta say this one’s a good one to have…especially if you’re like me and haven’t gotten sick of the song yet.
