“Jacuzzi Boys Bring Heat” - ROLLING STONE
“Jacuzzi Boys have taken their place among the best sloppy racket-makers bashing out easy-boogie soundtracks to your next drunken night at the local rock dive” - SPIN
“This is a band well-versed in garage songwriting… interested in making a jangling-but-nervy song that’ll sound really good on a muggy Florida day.” - PITCHFORK

Emanating from Southern Florida like a hazy sunbeam of garage howl, Miami’s Jacuzzi Boys are taking to the road this fall for a string of North American dates with Wavves and King Tuff. The trio, comprised of guitarist/vocalist Gabriel Alcala, drummer/vocalist Diego Monasteri and bassist Danny Gonzalez, will be bringing musical offerings from their upcoming LP, Jacuzzi Boys, set to be released September 10th on Hardly Art. Kicking off at Chicago’s Park West on September 28th, the band is stopping through eighteen cities across the US and Canada, enveloping crowds in their sonically drenched live heat. Emblazoned with the stamp of approval from the godfather of punk rock, Iggy Pop, and bolstered by tour experience with the likes of King Khan and the Shrines and Man or Astro-Man?, these dates will see Jacuzzi Boys build on their momentum and garner even more critical and popular attention in their wake. The 7″ single for “Double Vision” is out now via Hardly Art.

Check Yo Ponytail!

Check Yo Ponytail has had a tremendous run so far on their first ever tour with Spank Rock, Big Freedia, Pictureplane, The Death Set and Franki Chan.  At their first show in Los Angeles, Wavves was a stellar addition to the line up, and Santigold made a special appearance during Spank Rock’s set. With the amazing news of Fun Fun Fun Festival and Pitchfork teaming up to make the festival available for live streaming, everybody will be able to tune into the world of Check Yo Ponytail on Friday November 4th from 5pm CET (which equals, 3pm PST and 6pm EST) on with sets of Pictureplane, Franki Chan, Big Freedia and Spank Rock.

“Though it tends to favor electro, rock, and hip-hop most, the characteristics of a Check Yo Ponytail show go beyond genre limitations. Chan doesn’t care what kind of music an artist or band makes as long as it’s fun and adds to the whole tight-knit, projector screen visual-fueled, dance-minded feel of the evening.”- San Francisco Bay Guardian

Fun Fun Fun Fest and Pitchfork announced that the 6th annual festival in Austin, Texas will be streaming live on pitchfork.com November 4 – 6, 2011. This will be the first time ever that the music of Fun Fun Fun Fest, one of the most progressive independent music festivals in the country, will be available live AND to those outside of Austin.

Unlike other music festivals with similar live streams, Fun Fun Fun Fest will present 4 separate streams with each tailored to different musical tastes, streamed live on one of the most widely read music websites in the world that reaches 3.3 million unique visitors each month. Like the Fun Fun Fun Fest stage setups, each stream will provide a different musical experience, from punk and metal to indie rock and electronica, from bounce and hip hop to competitions and comedy. Fans will be able to toggle the streams to cater to their favorite styles of music.

New Single: YACHT “Utopia”

YACHT have already released their apocalyptic-themed synth-pop anthem “Dystopia (The Earth is on Fire) and now that
the rapture hasn’t actually destroyed the earth the duo are ready to share its companion track “Utopia.”  Click HERE to give it a listen. Both songs will appear on YACHT’s forthcoming new album and second for DFA Records, Shangri-La (out June 21st).

“Utopia” is both thematically and sonically different from “Dystopia.”  The track is a frantic piece of arty disco funk.  YACHT’s Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans fuse their vocals to create appropriately celestial-sounding harmonies.  Multiple layers of keys, guitars, drums, and more pound away in varying rhythms while the two sing lines like “there’s nothing in the future / it’s up to us to make utopia.”

YACHT will be joining bands like Guided by Voices, Wavves, Atlas Sound, and more as part of Brooklyn’s Northside Festival.  YACHT’s show will be at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Midnight Magic, The Miracles Club, and DFA DJ’s on Sunday,  June 19th.

Free Christmas Songs!

Target has partnered with some of music’s finest contemporary artists to help get everyone into the swing of the holiday season with a free holiday soundtrack, The Christmas Gig. The soundtrack (which includes a Best Coast and Wavves collaboration as well as tracks by Coconut Records and Crystal Antlers) is an exclusive album of original holiday tracks available as a free download at Target.com/HolidayAlbum

Each of the songs on Target’s holiday soundtrack captures a holiday experience as told from the perspective of a contemporary artist. The collection is an eclectic mix of music that includes country, folk, hip-hop, Latin, and pop- from the soulful “Mrs. Claus Ain’t Got Nothin’ on Me” by Little Jackie to the comforting “Tiny Tree Christmas” by Guster to an unforgettable Latin song “Super Mama” by The Pinker Tones.

Also, Sleepy Rebels have a free sugary-sweet mp3 available called “California Christmas.” Songwriters, producers and multi-instrumentalists Jeremy Adelman and Bruce Driscoll began making music together when Bruce and his sister, Brazilian-American singer/songwriter Erica Driscoll, were looking for a drummer for their band Astaire (now Blondfire). After recommending many great drummers, Adelman, who had been a performing member (keyboards & trumpet) of Brookville, touring with Goldfrapp and Tahiti 80, realized he had always wanted to play drums in a band, and volunteered to fill the seat himself.

At the same time Adelman began asking Bruce and Erica to sing on a variety of compositions he was creating for his day job as a music composer for TV, film & advertising. By 2007 the three artists had become constant collaborators and friends, and decided to create Sleepy Rebels to capture their collaborative energies.

Okay, one more! Little & Ashley are a cute little duo that you may have heard on the Amazon Kindle commercials. They have released their Winter Night EP featuring two new songs and a playful cover of “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” In addition to the holiday EP being available digitally on Amazon, the title track “Winter Night” is currently offered as a free MP3 download in Amazon’s “25 Days Of Free”.
