Following their critically acclaimed 2011 debut LP, Glowing Mouth, Brooklyn indie rock quartet Milagres have just announced the release of their sophomore full-length album,Violent Light, on February 25th via Kill Rock Stars in the US (2/24 via Memphis Industries in the UK). Channeling influences as diverse as Al Green, Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush, Violent Light finds the band exploring the connection between ancient humanity & the advanced science of the present day.
Milagres fill Violent Light with richness and delicacy. Combining “a David Bowie-like theatricality with a sprawling prog groove.” (SPIN), “The Letterbomb” is a fuzzy, funked-up track that launches into a flurry of driving guitars, experiments using vocals as percussion. Psych-pop album cut “Jeweled Cave” immediately bursts open with bouncing synths and a driving bassline setting the stage for Kyle Wilson’s irresistible vocals.
