Tycho and Portugal. The Man Live in the Moment

Ghostly International recording group Tycho has united with Portugal. The Man for two extraordinary remixes of the GRAMMY Award-winning group’s current smash single, “Live In The Moment.” Tycho has crafted a pair of distinct new musical visions – “Live In The Moment (Sunrise)” and “Live For The Moment (Sunset)” – that both showcase the acclaimed Portland rockers original song while pushing it forward via the GRAMMY® Award-nominated dance/electronic project’s own distinctive approach.

“Live In The Moment (Sunrise)” and “Live For The Moment (Sunset)” are available today at The Ghostly Store as well as all digital music retailers and streaming services.

“As a producer and musician who primarily creates instrumental songs I jumped at the chance to work with Portugal. The Man’s unique vocal style,” says Scott Hansen, Tycho’s primary composer, songwriter, and producer. “I try to approach remixes in a way that casts the original song in a new light while staying true to its core elements.  Getting to explore totally different spaces with these two versions, it allowed me to better express my take on the song. I wanted to create a lighter, more energetic version (Sunrise) and darker, more introspective one (Sunset) to highlight and contrast the parts of the original song that most inspired me.”

“Live In The Moment” — featured on Portugal. The Man’s eighth studio album WOODSTOCK — is the follow up to the album’s lead single “Feel It Still,” which was undoubtedly one of the biggest songs of 2017. “Live In The Moment” is currently shaping up to be a multi-format chart smash, which includes a top 5 spot at Alternative radio and #1 at Triple A.

Tycho will celebrate the “Live In The Moment” remixes — as well as 2016’s chart-topping album, EPOCH — with a wide ranging U.S. tour, highlighted by headline dates, DJ sets, festival performances, and multi-artist tours alongside Phantogram, Emmit Fenn, and Poolside. Listen: Moglii x Novaa – “Tonic Water” (Snocker Cot Remix)

Moglii by Sebastian Lehner

Off the back of the successful debut ‘Naboo’ EP from German musical prodigy Moglii, Majestic Casual Records presents the release of the “Tonic Water” remix from 19 year old LA producer Nick Minutaglio aka Snocker Cot.

Snocker Cot

The remix provides the perfect additions in production to complement what was already a textured, intricate soundscape on the original. Pitched vocals, lush hooks, moody synths and a carefree guitar melody carry the track to create a vibe which serves to “overcome contradictions and catch attention with unexpected sounds and ideas”. The remix adds another level to Moglii’s original and is sure to turn heads and keep listeners coming back for more.

I was very excited to remix this track because I’m a big fan of Moglii and his sound. I love the way his music sounds so organic and natural, and how he blurs the line in between synthetic and acoustic sounds. I wanted to replicate that and pay homage to it in my remix. That’s why I decided to use an acoustic guitar in order to create that natural sound. I’m very pleased with the way the remix turned out! – Snocker Cot

Moglii is the solo project of 24-year-old producer, singer and jazz pianist Simon Ebener-Holscher. The musician, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, spends his time creating unique productions of warm beats, analogue synthesizers and soulful vocal samples. His modern electronic compositions are often supplemented by acoustic instruments and an organic soundscape, with the help of field recordings of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses.

The debut EP Down Under from Moglii x Novaa can be found here and features the “Mother” single, which has reached over 3 million streams, and the #2 spot on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts.

“True Love” is the debut single from JUIC3BOX, an artist alias from singer, songwriter, and producer Sam Gray. With over 30 million streams on Spotify across 4 current single releases, Sam is ranking the charts with hits from Hardwell (“Creatures of the Night” – 5.6m), Julian Perretta (“Tied Up” – 4.5m), DJ Katch (“Lights Out” – 23.5m) and Manovski (“My Redemption Song” – 680k). Must Listen: Sunsquabi

Earlier this year, Colorado trio Sunsquabi revealed their now critically acclaimed sophomore EP ‘Deluxe.’ Released via GRiZ’s All Good Records, ‘Deluxe‘ saw Sunsquabi bring their electro-funk- meets-jam-band sound to new heights on the five track project that Earmilk describes as “a deep, dank, and funky surprise.”

Well, the ‘Deluxe’ surprises aren’t quite done yet. Today, the band is excited to unveil another piece of the ‘Deluxe’ puzzle with a brand new take on EP cut “Pygmy Up” from remix extraordinaire Cloudchord. The original, a collaboration with Russ Liquid, takes an uptempo turn at the hand of Cloudchord who accentuates the track’s percussive elements and transforms it into a bonafide festival anthem.

If unfamiliar with Sunsquabi before now, the act have become infamous as trendsetters in the electronic music circuit thanks to a sound This Song Is Sick describes as a “hybrid sound infusing irresistible and funky live instrumentation with electronic production elements in a unique way.” Prior to ‘Deluxe,’ Sunsquabi built their reputation with debut EP ‘Odyssey‘ that featured collaborations with Big Gigantic and GRiZ. On 2017’s ‘Deluxe,’ the band continued the heavy-hitting collabs- this time with Late Night Radio, Russ Liquid, and Nick Gerlach.

Catch the guys live this summer with performances lined up at music festivals Summer Camp and Werk It Out. As for what to expect from the live show, Sunsquabi have enlisted Tucker Wilde’s Stage Dynamics to build out a full-stage production. As we wait until Sunsquabi hit a stage near us, be sure to check out the brand new EP ‘Deluxe’ out now via All Good.

Remix Galore! La Felix + That’s Nice – “Delicious”

Just recently we were all treated to an infectious disco-pop track called “Delicious”, which came from Mexican producer That’s Nice and New Zealand producer La Felix, and this week they are giving us four very awesome remixes by four of their favorite people right now: Patawawa, July ChildREFLEX  and Dino Soccio.

Patawawa Remix
“These guys actually reached out to me through my facebook page, not saying much but showing me their work. I thought they were pretty funky. I talked about doing something together which hasn’t happened but I thought having their vibe on ‘Delicious’ would be a good start.” – That’s Nice

July Child Remix

“July Child and I got to remix the same song for Le Youth last year. I thought their remix was actually really good and I wanted them to have a go at ‘Delicious’. I was pretty sure they would do a great job and I wasn’t wrong”  – That’s Nice

REFLEX Remix
“Been following REFLEX for quite some time now. I love their sound and their tracks are very DJ friendly. Whenever I get to play a DJ set, I often drop some of their tunes in there. Now, it’s even better I’ll  be able to drop their remix version of one of my tunes! ”

Dino Soccio Remix
“Been a fan of both That’s Nice and La Felix for awhile now, was excited to do a Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis 80s take on Delicious, bring out that breakbeat funk.” – Dino SoccioCheck out all of the tracks below:

That’s Nice and La Felix discovered each other online, initially sending emails of rough ideas and different beats. Ultimately, “Delicious” was the result.

“When we first started it, I sort of got the Daft Punk vibe, which is one of our main influences. We wanted to keep it very simple just like that Daft Punk song ‘Get Lucky’; small instrumentation but every instrument playing its part, having its moment throughout the song, and not overdoing it with production. By the time we were almost done, I was in Los Angeles doing some production work and seeing a lot of my producer friends adding real live drums to their disco-dance tunes. We needed to try that. So, last minute we completely changed the drum sound from electronic to a more organic natural sound instead using a real kick drum, a real snare, and real hi-hats.” – That’s Nice

Check ‘Em Out: POOLCLVB Remixes For “Always” From Odd Mob and Ocular

poolclvbpic

Recently Australian producer POOLCLVB gave us the first peek at his forthcoming debut EP with a summery new track called “Always”, and this week he is excited to share two incredible remixes of that track from Brisbane duo Odd Mob and US producer Ocular.

“We went a little bit more experimental with this remix whilst still retaining the summery-road trip vibes of the original” – Odd Mob

“The first time I heard the track and the vocals I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. Most of my tracks lately have been more graves and MYRNE-esque but I went back to my roots with this one.” – Ocular

“Always” is a homage to Australian house, with summery, playful rhythms and samples. Carl Fox (of Porsches) lends his languid and sultry vocals, telling the classic story of ‘boy meets girl’.

“Written and recorded in a single day, we bounced lyrics back and forth and it just came together so organically. Sometimes guys dont express their feelings as much as girls, we wanted this track to do just that. If you find it hard to say I love you, let this track speak for you.” -POOLCLVB

With candied, sprightly melodies over dance-flecked synths and drum machines, POOLCLVB brings to mind the infectious feelings of a new relationship; brimming joy and seemingly endless possibilities.

Check out the original of the track below:

“Always” is available now through etcetc music, ahead of POOLCLVB’s forthcoming debut You + Me EP which is seeing its release in January 2017.

Which one is your fave?
