First Annual Planting The Seed Summit

Luck Presents is proud to announce the lineup for Luck Summit: Planting the Seed, their inaugural cannabis convention which benefits HeadCount’s Cannabis Voter Project. Presented by Rocket Seeds and hosted by Nathaniel Rateliff, the multi-day summit seeks to destigmatize, educate, and promote cannabis culture in an informative and entertaining way. During the summit, which runs virtually April 26-29, Luck and fellow cannabis-advocate partners will showcase the cannabis plant through the lenses of history, science, entertainment, and culture.

“In the first year of the event, it is important to us that we create a bi-partisan, stigma free conversation around cannabis in its many forms,” stated Matt Bizer, co-founder of Luck Presents. “We truly believe that Willie Nelson has been a unifier for so many in his years as both a cannabis activist and humanitarian. With Willie as our landlord we are able to set a stage and a platform for this unique conversation here in Texas and throughout the country.” Team Luck unveiled a highly curated lineup that is both entertainingly enlightening and recreationally educational, with keynote addresses by Steven Hawkins, interim CEO of the United States Cannabis Council, and legendary activist and artist Willie Nelson.

The summit is the latest in Nelson’s long history of supporting legalization and normalization of cannabis use. He has been in the legal business since 2015 when he co-founded GCH. In 2016, the company launched Willie’s Reserve, the premium cannabis brand where Nelson serves as Chief Tasting Officer. In 2019, they expanded to introduce Willie’s Remedy, a line of hemp infused products for the natural food and wellness market.

Luck Summit: Planting the Seed will feature something for everyone-from the cannabis curious to the long-time 420-friendly-on all aspects of the cannabis plant: economics, logistics, agriculture, legalities, legislative approaches, culture, and revenue streams.

Luck Summit: Planting the Seed will also include musical performances by Early James, Devon Gilfilian, Marcus King, Jonathan Tyler, Aaron Lee Tasjan, The Nude Party, and more.

Additionally, team Luck has partnered with the much-loved podcast, Great Moments in Weed History. The episodes released in partnership with Luck Summit: Planting the Seed will dive deep into humanity’s 10,000+ year relationship with cannabis to find the humor, heart, and historical importance of this very special plant. As part of Luck Summit, hosts Abdullah Saeed and David Bienenstock proudly present five short films tracing Willie Nelson’s 60-year love affair with cannabis-from his first toke in Fort Worth, Texas in 1954 to the creation of his very own cannabis companies, Willie’s Reserve and Willie’s Remedy. The first episode, “Willie and Weed: The Origin Story,” is available now, and features Ethan Hawke and Charlie Sexton. Click here to watch.

Sponsors for the event include Rocket Seeds, Koan, Willie’s Reserve, GRAV, Greenbelt Botanicals, Gibson, Clay Imports, Dad Grass and Weed, and Whiskey News.

Brand New Music From The Chemical Brothers

The Chemical Brothers are back!

Legendary electronic music pioneers The Chemical Brothers return with new single The Darkness That You Fear.  The six-time GRAMMY® Award-winning duo —Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons— release the brand-new song today via Republic Records, the first new music since 2019’s critically acclaimed No Geography.

A limited 12” of the single will be available for Record Store Day on RSD Weekend June 12, 2021 with artwork by the late Cornwall-based abstract artist Sir Terry Frost.

Built around two distinct and disparate vocal samples and a woozy swirl of psychedelic sound, The Darkness That You Fear is the sonic equivalent of light at the end of the tunnel – a rush of hope and a pointer towards a brighter, more open future.

About the new track, Tom Rowlands commented, “’The Darkness That You Fear is a hopeful piece of music. When we found the combination of the different voices worked set to the flow of the music, it made us feel optimistic—like it was something we wanted to share.”

A wildly hallucinogenic and beautifully evocative video for the track has been made by Ruffmercy, the Bristol based director who has previously worked with artists such as Thom Yorke, Run The Jewels and DJ Shadow.

Ruffmercy comments, “When I first heard the song I immediately connected with the theme and the overall positive vibe. New government rules for relaxing lockdown had been announced and combined with the sun shining, it left me feeling positive about the forthcoming summer. It also triggered a strong sense of nostalgia that led to me going back to look for visual inspiration from the period in time when I first discovered The Chemical Brothers in the mid ’90’s. The video combines archive rave footage from the mid to late 90’s with hand painted Super 8 film textures and hand drawn animation. I love using colour to create chaos and evoke emotions and this was the perfect project to do that.”

Republic Record’s executive Glenn Mendlinger, who brought the duo to the label comments, “The Darkness You Fear marks the return of the mighty Chemical Brothers.  It is a classic Chemical Brothers opus that is psychedelic, lush and full of optimism.  Tom and Ed once again prove they are pioneers of the genre with this uplifting track that is perfectly timed as the world comes out of darkness into light and color.”

Gearing up to hit the stage later this year, The Chemical Brothers have also been confirmed as Friday night headliners at this year’s Creamfields festival in Daresbury, Cheshire (26th – 29th August – the event has already sold out) and Sunday night headliners at TRNSMT in Glasgow.
