The Chain Gang of 1974, the moniker of genre-jumping singer & multi-instrumentalist Kamtin Mohager, is making headlines with his enthralling new single “Sleepwalking” which is featured on the new television commercial for Grand Theft Auto V. The commercial has been in constant rotation since its debut earlier this month during a new episode of “Breaking Bad,” and the song is the most popular on Grand Theft Auto V’s soundtrack, on sale now at iTunes. “Sleepwalking” is the first single from The Chain Gang of 1974’s highly anticipated sophomore LP Daydream Forever, which is due out February 4 on Warner Bros Records.
The Chain Gang of 1974 just finished a run of West Coast dates with The Vaccines, and is gearing up for a week-long trek with Sir Sly, kicking off October 8 in San Francisco. See below for details.
Daydream Forever was produced by Isom Innis (Foster The People), with additional production and mixing from Tony Hoffer (M83, Phoenix). Earlier this summer, Neon Gold unveiled a first look at the new album, by premiering the song “Miko.” Watch the official lyric video for it below:
The new album is the anticipated follow-up to The Chain Gang of 1974’s widely acclaimed 2011 debut Wayward Fire, which Esquire declared “one of the summer’s most surprisingly fantastic new records,” and earned similar praise from the likes of SPIN, MTV, FADER, NYLON, RCRD LBL and more. The band has shared the stage with the likes of Foster the People, Big Audio Dynamite, Tapes N Tapes, and The Naked and Famous, as well as a lauded performance at 2011’s Lollapalooza, which Yahoo proclaimed “a fabulous onstage display.”

Pompeya is about a month away from releasing Tropical, their first LP in America out on October 29th via No Shame. Today, the band is putting out the single for the third track on the album, “90“, and a music video for the song “Slaver“. While both tracks feature the signature Pompeya groove, they each have their own distinct flavor, showing off the consistency and versatility of the band’s songwriting abilities.
MTV Hive had this to say: “Slaver”, the first single and opening track off ‘Tropical’, is a supreme debut into the celestial world that is Pompeya. With a clear knack for arrangement, the band merges lush synths with spiraling guitars and a rhythm section bringing relentless, heavy funk.“ Click here for the full feature.

Following the recent announcement of Kwes’ debut album ilp, the young singer/songwriter/producer is sharing the video for its lead single “36”.
The video candidly showcases the highs and lows of school-age first crushes, when simply locking eyes or sharing headphones could cause a roller coaster of emotions. The song itself was inspired by the relationship of Kwes’ grandparents, proving that giddy feeling of young love can endure.
His ability to craft unique, heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics is rooted in his production skills, which he has honed over the years working with everyone from the xx to Damon Albarn. With ilp his sound has evolved to an experimental take on pop sensibilities, referred to as Freepop by Kwes.
Debut album, ilp, out October 15th!

“ …deep-fried vocals effortlessly ride a bright, pinched melody”. – SPIN“stripped-down, rustic instrumentation to provide the bedding for an immersive listening experience” – Paste Magazine
“southern rock meets The Cure.” – My Old Kentucky Blog
With the previously revealed album title track described by ELLE as “a steady, rhythmic rocker”, the band has just shared new album track “Rewrite Our Lives” with Paste Magazine. An upbeat, energetic cut containing a runaway chorus & an atmospheric, massive sound akin to that of the great American railroad dream, you can hear the track below (and download it for free in exchange for an email address).
Sonically, Lessons marks a departure from Ha Ha Tonka’s more stripped down style to one that is filled with lush instrumentation. As the title implies, the inspiration behind Lessons stems from life’s biggest ones. Motivated by late illustrator and renowned children’s author Maurice Sendak’s musings on the creative process and what it means to be an artist, the band captured this message and the fragile, oft-irrational comedy of life in sonic form.
Ha Ha Tonka has become renowned for its authentic, effortless brand of indie-Americana, seamlessly fusing the traditional with modern, contemporary elements. Having played alongside the likes of Old 97s, Murder By Death, Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin & more, Ha Ha Tonka will take to the road this fall on a full North American tour (check out the dates below)!
