Outasight has released his single of “Automatic”; the 2nd single from the highly anticipated sophomore album from one of the most versatile artists in hip hop. “Automatic”, has all of the key elements of a dance floor anthem. From the driving beat and hypnotic synths to the funky guitars and Outasight’s one-of-a-kind vocals, “Automatic” is the perfect vessel to introduce Outasight’s return to the world of independent music where he once cut his teeth as one of the most buzzed about artists around.
Outasight is a Yonkers born-and-bred singer/songwriter/rapper whose rise to prominence took him from a star of the New York City mixtape circuit to a record deal with Warner Bros. Records. He’s best known for his single “Tonight Is the Night”, which you might recall from the 2011 Pepsi Commercial featuring Ray Charles, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey. “Tonight Is The Night” was also the main theme to the 2012 NHL All Star game, at which Outasight performed, and the 1000th episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. Capitalizing on the success of “Tonight Is The Night” and the strength of the overall album, Outasight’s major-label debut Nights Like These (Warner Bros. Records) debuted November 23rd, 2012 and peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Chart.
With the move back to working as an independent artist, Outasight is making the most of the freedom that comes with being in charge of your own creative destiny. The new batch of Outasight music slated for release is every bit as dynamic as Nights Like These, but with a return to the edge and swagger that made Outasight such a special artist in the first place.
Stay tuned as Outasight unveils more audible treats from his new full-length debuting early next year.
Today, Mystery Skulls producer Luis Dubuc announces his single and video for his electro-funk tune “Paralyzed”, out today on Warner Bros. Records. Directed by Bo Mirosseni (Disclosure, Block Moth Super Rainbow), the clip features a number ghoulish figures who show off their extraordinary basketball skills complete with plenty of tricks and dunks like some spooky Harlem Globe Trotters, until we find a pleasant twist at the end. “Paralyzed” will come on Dubuc’s debut album out this fall, also on Warner Bros. and will also feature a collaboration with disco legend Niles Rogers.

Globally revered and highly influential dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 have revealed a plethora of details about their eagerly anticipated new album, including the title, cover art, and track-listing. The Physical World will be released by Last Gang Records / Warner Bros. Records today.
Produced by D. Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Oasis), The Physical World comes a full ten years after the release of the band’s universally acclaimed debut album,You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, which made Jesse F. Keeler(bass, synths, backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger(vocals and drums), an underground /over ground sensation. DFA 1979 broke up in 2006 while the first album and subsequent remix album continued to sell inexplicably. They decided to reunite in 2011 and began to perform live picking up where they left off without missing a beat. Their rabid cult has only continued to amass just as inexplicably. Jesse and Sebastien sat down with the NMEto talk about the new album release and reuniting. Earlier this spring, DFA 1979 released various clues, tidbits and sonic allusions surrounding a possible new album on deathfromabove1979.com. This will also be your exclusive portal into the wormhole world into all things DFA 1979 now and in the future.

Hooray! Jenny Lewis is back!!! Ohhhh, how I miss Rilo Kiley.
Celebrated California singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis has debuted her new single, “Just One Of The Guys,” taken from her forthcoming album The Voyager, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records on July 29th. The album is now available for pre-order today from all participating digital retailers. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of “Just One Of The Guys.”
“Just One Of The Guys” was produced by Beck, who also contributes backing vocals. “It was one of the tunes I’d tried a few different ways before I finally recorded it with Beck at his home studio in Malibu,” Lewis says. “The whole experience was super laid-back – walking on the beach, talking about movies, the Rolling Stones, and French pop music. It was just very mellow and lovely.”
Beck is one of several artists Lewis chose to produce tracks on The Voyager, which also features production from Ryan Adams, alongside Mike Viola, as well as her longtime collaborator, Johnathan Rice. The Voyager is the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman’s third solo album and first in six years, following 2006’s Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008’s Acid Tongue. It finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.
The Voyager is Lewis’s most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley. The Voyager‘s rootsy, golden glow comes courtesy of Lewis and the artists she chose to produce various tracks, including Ryan Adams (who, alongside Mike Viola, produced all but three of the tracks), Beck, and Lewis’ longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice. The Voyager finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.
“Making The Voyager got me through one of the most difficult periods of my life,” she says. “After Rilo Kiley broke up and a few really intense personal things happened, I completely melted down. It nearly destroyed me. I had such severe insomnia that, at one point, I didn’t sleep for five straight nights. Many of the songs on The Voyager came out of the need to occupy my mind in the moments when I just couldn’t shut down.”
After several years of writing new material, Lewis took 2013 off to tour with The Postal Service. Sharing the spotlight was a freeing experience, providing the realization that she needed to give up control in order to move forward. While on the road, she reached out to Ryan Adams to record at his newly built studio, Pax Am, at Sunset Sound. Her first day back from tour, she went into the studio with Adams and his partner Mike Viola, and found the creative collaboration she was missing.
“Ryan and I didn’t know each other very well before this album — we had hardly even listened to one another’s music, to be honest. But I trusted the vision, and Ryan ended up being the person to get me over the fear of finishing something I’d been working on for so long. This record was the hardest one I ever made,” she says. “The Voyager tells that story: the longest night of my life and the journey to finally getting some rest.”

Lewis Watson is set to release his long-awaited debut album The Morning in the US on June 17th. Demonstrating Lewis’ powers as a songwriter, The Morning combines fully-realised reworkings of select songs from his early EPs with plethora of new material – including instant grat track “Halo,” “Stay” and much more. These new songs take Lewis’ stripped-back, guitar-and-voice roots to a new level of richer, more textured soundscapes.
In 2012, Lewis Watson self-released his debut EP It’s Got Four Sad Songs On It BTW after establishing a devoted online fan-base. It topped the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on the first day of release, outselling the likes of Adele, Madonna and Ed Sheeran in the process, and landed the then nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
In addition to critical acclaim, all five of his EPs to date have hit the Top 10 at iTunes, each building upon the sales of the previous release. Meanwhile, his online following is phenomenal: 5 million YouTube plays; 100,000 likes at Facebook; 5 million streams at Spotify; and 70,000 Twitter followers.
Fans who purchase The Morning iTunes pre-order, available now, will receive an instant download of new album track “Halo”.
Singer/songwriter/performer LPwill release a new track, entitled “Night Like This,” digitally on April 1st.
This track is the first single from her upcoming Warner Bros. Records debut album. “Night Like This” was co-written by LP and Nate Campany and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer and WBR chairman, Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Dave Matthews Band) and co-produced with Mike Del Rio.
“It’s funny because the song almost didn’t make the album,” saysLP, who made her living writing songs for other artists like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera, before focusing on her solo career. “It was promised to a couple of major artists before I decided to keep it for myself.”
“Night Like This” is LP’s first official release since last year’s Live at EastWest Studios EP, which featured the memorable track “Into The Wild” (which was also heard in the CitiBank TV commercial).
In other LPnews, the Los Angeles-based artist will perform “Slip Sliding Away” at the Paul Simon Tribute show “The Music of Paul Simon at Carnegie Hall” in New York City on March 31st. LA rock band Bad Things – that consists of front man/lead singer Davis LeDuke, bass player Jared Palomar (formerly of Augustana), guitarist Anthony Sanudo, drummer Lena Zawaideh and lead guitarist Shaun White (professional snowboarder/skateboarder) will be releasing their debut, self-titled album January 21st on Warner Bros. Records. The lead single “Anybody, ” a “chugging rock anthem heavy with choirboy backing harmonies” according to Rolling Stone, is now for sale at iTunes and streaming on YouTube and Soundcloud.
Right on the heels of Bad Things‘ release, NBC is set to air “Shaun White: Russia Calling” on January 25th. The special gives an inside look at how the gold-medal-winning snowboarder prepped for the Winter Olympics in Sochi next month in addition to juggling his other commitments, including Bad Things.
Get a taste of what Bad Things are all about live, check out this video (below) from Lollapalooza of the band covering Iggy And The Stooges’ “Search And Destroy” as well as a clip of “Anybody.” Bad Things completed a North American tour of the country last fall that included festival stops at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Osheaga Festival in Montreal and Voodoo Music and Art Experience in New Orleans, which earned the band much deserved acclaim.
Bad Things earned their undeniable chemistry through sheer persistence and – in the case of Zawaideh, guitarist Anthony Sanudo, and lead guitarist Shaun White – a friendship forged in their San Diego hometown that dates back to their teens. In 2014 Bad Things is ready to share their electrifying sound and moving lyrics with the world. With the upcoming self-titled debut release, it’s only the beginning. “Music is what we do,” Sanudo says. “It is all we can do and all we ever want to do. Though obviously Shaun is pretty good at a couple of other things.”
