Listen: Cosmo Sheldrake – “The Moss”

Cosmo- 4 (low res)

Check out the debut single by 24 year-old London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Cosmo Sheldrake.

Cosmo describes “The Moss” as “an ode to nonsense for its own sake”. Invoking many of the classic figures of nonsense literature, Cosmo embarks on a peg-legged jaunt, draping finely woven vocal harmonies over an underbelly of electronics, strings, and an Armenian Duduk (recorded at a folk session in a country pub in East Sussex).

Over the past year Cosmo has composed music for film and theatre, as well as touring internationally supporting and playing with Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit. In the UK he has shared stages with Bombay Bicycle Club and US indie act Mutual Benefit.

Listen: Lewis Watson – “Colorblind” (Ft. Hudson Taylor)

lw

Years ago, I used to listen to the original of this song by The Counting Crows ALL of the time. Now, London-based Lewis Watson has brought his own version. Hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed Four More Songs EP and hitting the iTunes Top 10 with all four of his EPs, he will release his new Some Songs With Some Friends, December 17 via Warner Music.

Produced by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Jake Bugg) and Richard Wilkinson (Lianne La Havas, Adele), Some Songs With Some Friends features a re-recorded, re-mastered version of single “Even If.” The rest of the EP sees Lewis interpreting some of his favorite songs joined by friends Gabrielle Aplin, Kimberly Anne and Irish duo Hudson Taylor.

Teaming up with Dublin-based act Hudson Taylor, Colorblind is an ethereal track with powerful pop vocal harmonies and lush piano washing over gentle strings and echoing percussion. Check out “Colorblind” ft. Hudson Taylor below.

Lewis Watson has developed a thriving fan base in his young career, already hailed by BBC Radio 1 and The Independent. He grew his fanbase organically through sharing his original songs and heartfelt covers of Bombay Bicycle Club, Bon Iver, etc. He recently played to sold-out audiences in NYC and LA– stay tuned for more news from Lewis Watson coming soon!

Video: Vacationer – “Trip”

Vacationer (Downtown Records) announces the worldwide release of their visually stunning video for single, “Trip.” The video was shot on Oahu’s North Shore by surf cult cinematographer Dave Homcy.

Vacationer teamed up with Lomography, the international community dedicated to analogue photography, for the filming, the first partnership of this kind. The video was shot on Lomography’s old school-esque LomoKino 35mm movie camera.

“The LomoKino cameras that we used to film this played a huge role in this video. Its character played a major role in the final cut. The visual effect of modern footage captured by analog means complement the essence of our musical production. Warm, choppy, and vibrant are all adjectives I’d use to describe the LomoKino’s developed film, they are also words I would hope people use to describe Vacationer music. The marriage of the two makes total sense to me. I hope everyone enjoys this,” says lead singer Kenny Vasoli.

Vacationer will go back out on the road this fall with Bombay Bicycle Club, after touring with Naked and Famous, the Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Tennis and Walk The Moon. Their debut album, Gone was released this spring through Downtown Records.
