Telepopmusik – “Fever”

images (1)

“…it’s been a long freaking time since Télépopmusik dropped their last full-length, and we can finally rejoice in their comeback.” – Death and Taxes

“…a calming, warm wash of water that seduces with its surprising showcase of New York-based singer, Betty Black.”– Baeble Music

Télépopmusik posted a video for their new track “Fever”, featuring New York vocalist Betty Black from their upcoming full-length, due in early 2014.

The first “official” video, directed by Lou Chaussalet, captures a near death experience on a beach in the Southwest of France.

On the remix front, Télépopmusik is also releasing a new remix of “Fever” by Tulip. Formerly known as Play Paul and Ryskee, releasing tracks on labels such as Roulé, Kitsune and Gigolo Records, Tulip’s “cold wave” vibe works nicely with the original moody, deep and hypnotic flavor of the original track, adding a bit more tension and dance floor beats.

It’s been over a decade since Télépopmusik’s first release, Genetic World, and more specifically the slinky, Grammy-nominated track “Breathe” featuring Scottish vocalist Angela McCluskey, which nearly defined an era of sophisticated, down-tempo French music (along with compatriots Air, Les Rythmes Digitales and Dimitri from Paris) in the mid 2000s.

Comprised of 2Square and Antipop, French electronic act Télépopmusik revealed the first 2 tracks from their third studio album (due in 2014) this past summer: a 2-song EP remix bundle, Fever/Try Me Anyway, featuring NY-based vocalist Betty Black and remixes from Dirty Channels, Zombie Disco Squad, Populette, Pit Spector & Pino Rastovitch. Télépopmusik’s new album will continue a long-standing collaborative tradition, featuring the vocal talents of New York’s own Betty Black (aka Sylvia Gordon of KUDU) & Swedish singer Johanna Wedin, as well as the return of the now US-based (and ever iconic) Angela McCluskey and some other surprise guests.

New Tour Dates and Remix From Smallpools

img_smallpools_140923833534

Smallpools, the Los Angeles 4-piece announce two new tours today. After headlining the sold out Neon Gold’s Popshop West party on September 4th, the band will divide their time between the studio working on the full-length debut and touring with Walk The Moon in October and 21 Pilots in November.  The foursome consist of Sean (vocals/keys), Mike (guitar), Joe (bass) and Beau (drums), just finished their tour with San Cisco to a wild response. The release of their self-titled debut EP gained them critical acclaim. Neon Gold calls “Mason Jar” “a sepia splash of power-pop that crystallizes into a starscraping smash before the verse even kicks in, as stadium-sized Of Monsters And Men gang vocals ride high on the buoyant flair of Smallpools’ youthful, Two Door-esque ebullience.”

Their first single “Dreaming” was produced by Captain Cuts and instantly shot to #1 of Hype Machine within the first 3 days of its revealing. Check out where I originally posted “Dreaming” and a couple other remixes here AND check out the latest remix below.

Video: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Partners with Funny or Die To Premiere Video for “Dancefloor”

361
Detroit’s affable duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have partnered with Funny Or Die for a rare FOD music video premiere for “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor),” which launched this morning. The clip follows two cops, actors John Ennis (Mr. Show, Tenacious D) and Jay Johnston (Anchorman, Men in Black II, Arrested Development), as they attempt to hunt down Josh and Daniel of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and put a stop to their party time shenanigans at “The Dancefloor.” It was directed by pro skateboarder turned video director Laban Pheidias of Occupy Films, who has previously worked with Justin Timberlake, Blake Shelton and Alicia Keys.

“Making this video was an epic day in sunny Los Angeles” explains the band. “We wore more make up than we had cumulatively worn in our entire lives prior to filming this, and got to hang out with some of the most talented comedians we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.  It was a really wonderful day, even when you factor in the food poisoning that Josh and the Director got form the craft services table. While the original intention of the video was not necessarily centered around humor, the energy of the actors we ended up being able to work with brought it to a great new place.”

Buzzing DJ/producer/vocalist AMTRAC is the latest to remix “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor), check out his vibed out treatment of the track, perfect for summer mixtapes.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. are playing a handful of summer festivals in August, then will be joining label mates Atlas Genius on the “Ones to Watch” tour through November, including back-to-back shows at NYC’s Irving Plaza.

New Remix From The Chainsmokers + Free Download

sayloulourmx
Check out The Chainsmokers remix of Say Lou Lou’s “Julian”.

The duo says, “We first heard the song “Julian” from Say Lou Lou and immediately fell in love with their haunting vocals and cool vibes, like Nervo meets Tegan and Sara, but we felt, underneath the grungy yet sexy vocals there was room for a really beautiful uptempo Indie Progressive song. We always preach about trying to make music that is a beautiful blend of pop, indie and progressive, which isn’t always possible, but we feel like this time, we did. Each of those genre to us represent some of music’s most important provisions, emotion, energy, dance and the ability to appeal to many.”

Download: TECLA – “Fake Tears” (Gordon Voidwell Remix)

“Tecla deftly blends electro-pop with tropicalia, hip-hop, funk and R&B, creating an awesome stew of dance music fresher and more original than much of what we've heard lately.” – PAPER

“Tecla deftly blends electro-pop with tropicalia, hip-hop, funk and R&B, creating an awesome stew of dance music fresher and more original than much of what we’ve heard lately.” – PAPER

NYC singer, rapper, DJ, producer and boundary-breaking artist TECLA has released her sophomore album, We Are The Lucky Ones. Written entirely by TECLA herself, the album infuses tropical, Caribbean, pop, and funk elements with TECLA’s unapologetic rap lyricism. We Are The Lucky Ones is available for purchase via iTunes and other digital retailers, and you can stream the album in full at AOL Spinner.

Album single “Fake Tears” features TECLA’s distinct, soulful vocals delivering an uplifting message above driving tribal beats. Having recently shared an eye-catching video for the track (watch above), TECLA is now treating fans to a remix from Gordon Voidwell.

Listen/download: TECLA – “Fake Tears” (Gordon Voidwell Remix)

We Are The Lucky Ones features tracks like “Lucky Ones,” full of skittering beats and rumbling synth, and the anthemic “Money,” a club-ready satirical take on gold digging with an instantly memorable hook. The hypnotic and soulful “Tragic Mulatto” was co-produced by members of Chairlift and takes a look at the life of iconic actress, singer and dancer Josephine Baker. “Fiction Fairytales of Love” closes the album with an ominous dancehall beat, spiraling vocals, and melancholic acoustic guitar, which explodes into layers of hand drumming and feedback.

TECLA recently performed live on WNYC’s Soundcheck, and you’ll be able to hear the full performance on air and streaming online soon! Those in the NYC area will have two chances to catch TECLA live next week, including her album release party at Joe’s Pub.

3/26: New York, NY @ Joe’s Pub (album release party) TICKETS
