New Album From La Roux Out Next Week

La Roux’s highly anticipated sophomore release, Trouble In Paradise is set to hit next week, July 22^nd via Cherrytree/Interscope Records. The already acclaimed upcoming release features nine tracks, each written and performed by multi-instrumentalist Elly Jackson and co-produced with Ian Sherwin. On the eve of release for Trouble in Paradise, La Roux has also announced a fall headlining tour that will kick off in Canada at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom on September 18 before heading stateside for a ten show run. The dates will see her crisscrossing the country before wrapping in New York City atTerminal 5 on October 4^th.

La Roux (Cherrytree/Interscope Records) blew up internationally, going platinum and gold in multiple countries. Stateside, multi-platinum hit single “Bulletproof” soared up the Billboard Hot 100 charts making its way to the Top Ten where it stayed for weeks. The debut release also garnered a GRAMMY for Best Electronic/Dance Album amongst other illustrious honors including nominations for a Mercury Prize, MTV Europe Award, MTV Woodie and two Brit Awards.

Danish pop powerhouse The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, consisting of Lars Iversen & Mette Lindberg, have recently announced the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, Bring Us Together – set to drop September 16th via Hot Bus/Rough Trade! Having won audiences across the world over with their unique brand of deliciously fun & edgy pop, the Copenhagen duo will deliver eager fans & new listeners alike ten tracks of pure audio bliss.

Bring Us Together first single “My Club” is an instantly catchy pop masterpiece with a psychedelic vibe punctuated by pulsing club beats. Biting lyrics like “tonight, I’ll be the bullet in your gun” are laid atop smooth, melodic horn samples & killer percussion. Heavily inspired by the two years of non-stop promotional & touring madness (and subsequent sense of isolation) following their previous album, Bring Us Together finds the duo’s desire to explore new musical avenues greater than ever before. As Iversen elaborates, “We wanted to create a heavier and slightly darker atmosphere for this album. The sound is more processed, and less “manual” than before- with more weighting on repetitive beats, bass grooves, chopped-up loops, and a more laidback vocal style.” The result is a sound collage & pop symphony created from equal parts of chopped-up danceable beats, spaced-out synths & bright neon green pop hooks.

Immersed within the Copenhagen music scene, producer & multi-instrumentalist Iversen met Lindberg in 2007. The two would go on to record a debut EP (Around The Bend) & two studio albums, 2009’s Fruit & 2012’s follow-up Out of Frequency. They’ve quickly become one of Denmark’s most prominent musical success stories, selling out venues around the globe & acquiring fans worldwide in the process.

Video: Jenny Lewis – “Just One of the Guys”

Celebrated California singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis has premiered the video for her new single, “Just One of the Guys,” appropriately for the guys on GQ.com this morning. The smart, tongue-in-cheek video stars Lewis’ actress friends Anne Hathaway, Brie Larson, Kristen Stewart, and Tennessee Thomas as her band, and marks Lewis’ directorial debut.

“Just One of the Guys” is the first single from Lewis’ upcoming album The Voyager, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records on July 29^th. The album is currently available for pre-order from all participating digital retailers. Those who pre-order will receive instant downloads of “Just One of the Guys” and “The Voyager.”

Night Drive transforms Radiohead’s “Where I End and You Begin” into a pulsing, hypnotic, electro-pop track. The band embraces Radiohead’s moody and brooding vibe while bringing Night Drive’s style of dark, disco-pop fans have dubbed as “Future Wave.”

The cover came about completely by chance. While in the studio working on a new track, Night Drive realized the main groove happen to meld perfectly with a Radiohead track. Fascinated by this marriage, they couldn’t resist the opportunity.

Keep your eyes open. The band releases this cover to announce their new album, scheduled for an early 2015 release. First single, “Young Rivals” to be released this September with an official remix by ASTR and official music video by their ongoing visual collaborators, Lobo Sucio Creative.

Album Stream: Jesus on the Mainline

NYC-based jam band Jesus On The Mainline announces the release of their debut self-titled EP. Their sound is reminiscent of rock greats The Black Crowes and Janis Joplin, while simultaneously drawing influences from blues, jazz and funk classics like Stevie Wonder, Louis Armstrong and Quincy Jones. This fifteen-piece band fuses jazz, soul, bluegrass and rock for an improvisational music experience that is unique from show to show.

Lead Vocalist Andrew Neesley is an award-winning musician, who flavors this unique musical collective with his contemporary jazz background. He performed with the Grammy-nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band, while receiving his advanced degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Jesus On The Mainline formed in 2012 in New York City and currently features a rotating cast of fifteen active members. Singers Mel Flannery, Amanda Brecker and Tim Emmerick compliment frontman Andrew Neesley’s lead vocals, while a sprawling five-piece instrumental section lead on the horns, percussion, keyboards, and guitars.

Neesley has played renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, The Apollo Theater and The Jazz Standard. He has also been awarded the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer’s Award, the Student Award for Best Engineered Studio Album for DownBeat Magazine and won the National Trumpet Competition. Jesus On The Mainline has played sold out shows at famous New York venues, such as Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge.

Newest Love: Green Stone Garden

There’s something about Green Stone Garden’s music that remains as elusive and genuine as their home city of Darwin. A remote sensibility, mixed with urban longing. Sometimes you want to escape; sometimes you can’t believe you’ve found paradise at your doorstep. As forthcoming single “Steam” muses, “It’s like the city let go of the rain”.

Together since 2011, alt-rock band Green Stone Garden has become emblematic of the Darwin music scene. They have received critical and industry recognition with the band winning the rock category of the ‘2013 Northern Territory Song of the Year Award’ for single “The Island“ and lead singer Mike Meston winning the Folk category in 2012. The band was a finalist this year for two of their new tracks, “Steam” and “Just a Spark” (yet to be released).

Green Stone Garden have supported the likes of Boy and Bear, Cat Empire, Gomez, Jeff Martin, Husky, Dappled Cities and Big Scary, all of whom have permeated the band’s melodies, storytelling and performance, along with the far away influences of Grizzly Bear and Lou Reed.

“The Island” from North EP (released May 2013) garnered airplay around the nation including spot-play on Triple j and also reached a top ten position in the AMRAP charts. As Home and Hosed host Dom Alessio said, “What can I say? This is just an excellent song”. The band was a Triple j Unearthed spotlight artist in May 2013.

After a three-state EP tour, the band featured in the 2013 Darwin Festival. Combining their songs with members of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra and Darwin’s own Choir of Man, the band rendered a wide-screen concert experience.

This year, GSG has returned to the studio to once again work with celebrated Australian producer Steven Schram (San Cisco, Paul Kelly, Calling All Cars) in Melbourne, with mastering by Grammy nominated Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Chet Faker, Arctic Monkeys) in the US. The result is the expansive new single “Steam” – set to be released 18 August 2014 – showcasing a new sound for the band and accompanied by a second interstate tour.

The single was revealed via This Song Is Sick, which gathered over 100,000 streams in the first 2 days.

Death From Above 1979 – “Trainwreck 1979”

Globally revered and highly influential dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 have revealed a plethora of details about their eagerly anticipated new album, including the title, cover art, and track-listing. The Physical World will be released by Last Gang Records / Warner Bros. Records today.

Produced by D. Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Oasis), The Physical World comes a full ten years after the release of the band’s universally acclaimed debut album,You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, which made Jesse F. Keeler (bass, synths, backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger (vocals and drums), an underground /over ground sensation. DFA 1979 broke up in 2006 while the first album and subsequent remix album continued to sell inexplicably. They decided to reunite in 2011 and began to perform live picking up where they left off without missing a beat. Their rabid cult has only continued to amass just as inexplicably. Jesse and Sebastien sat down with the NME to talk about the new album release and reuniting. Video: Jungle – “Time”

DEBUT ALBUM STREAMING NOW VIA ITUNES

London collective Jungle has premiered the video for latest album cut “Time”.

The “Time” video arrives a week before the release of Jungle’s highly anticipated, eponymous debut album out July 15 (14th in the UK) on XL Recordings. Identified by Rolling Stone as a “New Artist You Need To Know”, Jungle has already been described by New York Times as “a beguiling and promising introduction“, by NME as ” the pop-art album of the summer” and Time Out exclaims “the group’s steamy, grooving, creeping neo-soul tracks are something pretty special.” Jungle is available to stream in full exclusively via ITUNES.

Meanwhile the collective will return to the states this fall with a seven-piece Jungle live experience that will perform on over 20 dates across North America, in the largest set of rooms the group has played to date. The group will also make stops at Lollapalooza, Treasure Island and Corona Capital Music Festivals. See full list of dates below.
