Canada’s acclaimed pop multi-instrumentalist and Juno Award winner Lights is back with her third studio album, Little Machines out on September 23rd via Warner Brothers Records. Little Machines features the first single, “Up We Go.”
Little Machines was produced and engineered by Drew Pearson, with key songs/singles mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (Madonna, U2, Beyonce), and was recorded in both Los Angeles, CA and Vancouver, BC. The anthemic first single, “Up We Go,” is available today to purchase digitally or as an instant grat when you pre-order the full album.
“I think we captured a timeless electronic sound and I’m really proud of it,” said Lights. “This record felt like a triumph after a hard dry spell. I turned to poetry, art and female songwriting legends and found myself writing about nostalgia and naivety and just enjoying music again. It feels like a complete journey, from front to back.”
Lights’ previous two heralded studio albums, The Listening (2009) and Siberia (2011) are both Certified Gold and feature the pop hits, “Drive My Soul”, “Ice”, “February Air” and “Banner”. The avid gamer and tattoo aficionado has commandeered the Warped Tour circuit over the years, been invited onstage with Kaskade and Deadmau5, and amassed fans in John Mayer, Rancid, Miley Cyrus, Bob Ezrin, and more. In 2009, she took home the Juno Award for ‘Best New Artist’ and reigns as a social media queen with over 1.2 million Facebook likes, 534,000 Twitter followers, 50 million YouTube channel views and 300,000 Instagram fans.
In celebration of Little Machines, Lights will start her national tour the week following release, kicking things off in Boston, MA on October 25th. Fans can purchase tickets this Friday, July 25 or one of three exclusive fan experience packages via iamlights.com now!

Globally revered and highly influential dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 have revealed a plethora of details about their eagerly anticipated new album, including the title, cover art, and track-listing. The Physical World will be released by Last Gang Records / Warner Bros. Records today.
Produced by D. Sardy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Wolfmother, Oasis), The Physical World comes a full ten years after the release of the band’s universally acclaimed debut album,You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, which made Jesse F. Keeler(bass, synths, backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger(vocals and drums), an underground /over ground sensation. DFA 1979 broke up in 2006 while the first album and subsequent remix album continued to sell inexplicably. They decided to reunite in 2011 and began to perform live picking up where they left off without missing a beat. Their rabid cult has only continued to amass just as inexplicably. Jesse and Sebastien sat down with the NMEto talk about the new album release and reuniting. Earlier this spring, DFA 1979 released various clues, tidbits and sonic allusions surrounding a possible new album on deathfromabove1979.com. This will also be your exclusive portal into the wormhole world into all things DFA 1979 now and in the future.
In addition, Death From Above 1979 have announced they will hit the road this fall for an extensive European and U.S. headlining tour, which goes on sale this Friday, July 11th. Please see below for all tour dates.

Today, MiM0SA announces his new album Future Trill Vol 2. and reveals the first track of the album “Boss Shit” ft Bun B from UGK.
“Boss Shit” ft Bun B is for sale on iTunes today HERE and down below you can stream the song via Soundcloud.
Tigran Mimosa is a young voice echoing the generation of youth raised on early hip-hop and Grime. Born in Armenia and brought to Los Angeles at age three, he was thrown into a survivalist situation facing the harsh realities of a new country. Being an only child to a single mom as well as an immigrant produced an ambitious street kid. At the tender age of seventeen, Tigran went north to the illustrious city of San Francisco. At a time when most kids were getting out of high school he was already knee deep in the epicenter of a vast and eclectic underground music scene. San Francisco, the legendary city of pioneers and innovators, had a quick yet sudden transformational effect – swept up in the chaos, MiM0SA was born.
Working with a myriad of synth lines and harmonic melodies, he carved out a niche by layering these with the signature 808 kick. Ultimately inspired by the west coast patriarch’s of hip-hop from the Bay to LA, his musical creations had the unique voice that only a conglomerate of different influences could create. Embodying the newness of street youth and bay area underground culture, Mimosa immediately caught the ear of a small underground label called Muti Music. To follow was a prolific four EPs and an album between 2008 and 2010, which immediately earned him accolades as a live performer, chalking up early triumphs at the Lightning In A Bottle Festival, Red Rocks and Coachella.
In 2011, MiM0SA started his empire with his personal record label, False Idol Musik. Through this came the release of his second album, Sanctuary. His live gigs also traveled east during these few years, attracting thousands of fans and proving West Coast underground could not only resonate, but also was a party staple across the country. In 2012 his performance garnered him amongst the “top ten acts at Bonnaroo” from Spin magazine.
In 2013, MiM0SA came hard with evolution of his sound launching a free concept album entitled Future Trill Vol. 1. He conceptualized the idea of “future trill” as being an umbrella term for the genre of music and the diversified tracks within. Therefore his much-anticipated new album is aptly named Future Trill Vol. 2 and contains a diverse multiform compilation of tracks. Featured on the album is Houston rapper Bun B of UGK with whom MiM0SA admits having, “pursued with a determination to collaborate”. Traveling to Texas with a suitcase of cash and a hard drive full of beats, he sought out and conquered. MiM0SA and the underground rapper went to work and in what would be described as luck or magic a potent musical union was formed. Within a thirty-minutes the epic single “Boss Shit” was recorded to be released this August 2014 on Future Trill Vol. 2.
Today, MiM0SA resides in Los Angeles, occupying a spacious former Buddhist temple equipped with ample studio set-up. He’s graced the stages of major venues around the world. Life’s journey from a street rat hood kid to future trill patron instilled an eager sense toward constant evolution and a dedication to the underground. Inspiration and devotion walk hand and hand to solidify the beginning chapter of MiM0SA.
This is a story yet to be told about an artist creating his own revolution with sound.

Rock band O.A.R. and singer Phillip Phillips announced their joint summer tour will benefit Habitat for Humanity to support the organization’s mission of providing safe, decent, affordable housing in partnership with low-income families.“Home means everything to us. It’s our DNA. It’s who we are,” said Marc Roberge of O.A.R. “We had the chance to meet amazing people building Habitat for Humanity homes in LA, pouring love and sweat into the foundation, taking pride in the work they were doing, alongside the Habitat partner family, and it was an honor to be a part of that. Words can’t properly describe the positive swell that brought to our hearts. We hope the donation from our tour will help families, like the ones we met, achieve their dreams of homeownership.”
The 24-city joint tour kicks off in St. Louis today and wraps up in Atlanta on July 26. For every ticket sold, O.A.R. and Phillip Phillips will donate $1 to Habitat. The tour will also host online auctions for a VIP experience in each city, including two premium tickets and an opportunity to meet with the artists. Proceeds from the auctions will go to local Habitat affiliates.
“My team has personally seen the incredible impact Habitat for Humanity can have on lives. We have worked on builds from the Musician’s Village rebuild in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina to local neighborhoods in my community,” said Phillip Phillips. “Habitat’s roots stem from my home state of Georgia but their reach is now worldwide I am honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity in carrying out their mission – to build homes, communities, and hope.”
The artists will also donate 10 concert tickets to the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in each tour city, for use by Habitat volunteers and staff, as well as Habitat partner homeowner families, who they will meet at each tour stop. Habitat affiliates will be provided with space at each venue to raise awareness about their affordable housing work within their communities.
“O.A.R. and Phillip Phillips share our passion for helping low-income families realize the dream of homeownership,” said Colleen Ridenhour, deputy director of Corporate, Foundation and Institution Relations for Habitat for Humanity International. “We are honored to be recognized during their summer tour and are grateful for their generosity in helping raise funds to create safe, decent, affordable housing.”

Hooray! Jenny Lewis is back!!! Ohhhh, how I miss Rilo Kiley.
Celebrated California singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis has debuted her new single, “Just One Of The Guys,” taken from her forthcoming album The Voyager, which will be released by Warner Bros. Records on July 29th. The album is now available for pre-order today from all participating digital retailers. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of “Just One Of The Guys.”
“Just One Of The Guys” was produced by Beck, who also contributes backing vocals. “It was one of the tunes I’d tried a few different ways before I finally recorded it with Beck at his home studio in Malibu,” Lewis says. “The whole experience was super laid-back – walking on the beach, talking about movies, the Rolling Stones, and French pop music. It was just very mellow and lovely.”
Beck is one of several artists Lewis chose to produce tracks on The Voyager, which also features production from Ryan Adams, alongside Mike Viola, as well as her longtime collaborator, Johnathan Rice. The Voyager is the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman’s third solo album and first in six years, following 2006’s Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008’s Acid Tongue. It finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.
The Voyager is Lewis’s most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley. The Voyager‘s rootsy, golden glow comes courtesy of Lewis and the artists she chose to produce various tracks, including Ryan Adams (who, alongside Mike Viola, produced all but three of the tracks), Beck, and Lewis’ longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice. The Voyager finds the always relatable songwriter at her sharp-witted best, singing about her recent experiences with honesty and incisiveness.
“Making The Voyager got me through one of the most difficult periods of my life,” she says. “After Rilo Kiley broke up and a few really intense personal things happened, I completely melted down. It nearly destroyed me. I had such severe insomnia that, at one point, I didn’t sleep for five straight nights. Many of the songs on The Voyager came out of the need to occupy my mind in the moments when I just couldn’t shut down.”
After several years of writing new material, Lewis took 2013 off to tour with The Postal Service. Sharing the spotlight was a freeing experience, providing the realization that she needed to give up control in order to move forward. While on the road, she reached out to Ryan Adams to record at his newly built studio, Pax Am, at Sunset Sound. Her first day back from tour, she went into the studio with Adams and his partner Mike Viola, and found the creative collaboration she was missing.
“Ryan and I didn’t know each other very well before this album — we had hardly even listened to one another’s music, to be honest. But I trusted the vision, and Ryan ended up being the person to get me over the fear of finishing something I’d been working on for so long. This record was the hardest one I ever made,” she says. “The Voyager tells that story: the longest night of my life and the journey to finally getting some rest.”
In other Jenny Lewis news, the sometimes actress also appears in the June 5th episode of IFC’s Comedy Bang Bang as a musical co-host filling in for Reggie Watts and singing a duet with Zach Galifianakis. She is on tour throughout the summer, including several dates with Ray LaMontagne, as well as appearances at Lollapalooza and the Outside Lands Festival. Lewis will also perform a hometown show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on August 9th. See below for all tour dates.

The Cold and Lovely is the brainchild of indie-rock goddesses, Meghan Toohey (The Weepies, Lenka, Schuyler Fisk) and Nicole Fiorentino (The Smashing Pumpkins,Veruca Salt, Spinnerette). The duo came together to form The Cold And Lovely with a singular sonic vision. The deceivingly moody yet bold new Ellis Bell Deluxe EP will be released on June 17.
Mastered by Dave Cooley (M83, The Silversun Pickups), the release features driving rock tunes that are as heartbreaking as they are anthemic. Upon discussing their influences, Toohey explains, “I dug deep into albums that changed my life, such as My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless, PJ Harvey’s entire catalog, and the work of bands like The Cure and U2. But it was Nicole who really helped me shake out the sound and pinpoint what I loved about the guitar tones and production.”
Shoegaze masterpiece “Oh, My Love” is a brooding lovesong strapped with melancholy lyrics and a bass line that commands listeners to move. Infectious title track “Ellis Bell” blends the duo’s slightly distorted vocals over lush instrumentation and dramatic, driving bass. With celestial backing vocals and hard-hitting lyrics, the percussive nature of “Radio” at once lends itself to road trip mixtapes and late-night ragers. “Radio” was released with VICE’s Noisey and you can check it out here.
The Cold And Lovely have launched begun aPledge Music campaign, offering backers behind-the-scenes video snippets as well as a variety of brand new exclusive merchandise. The duo will hit the road this spring with their first ever East Coast run, launching in NYC:
