Mixtape: Theophilus London – Rose Island Vol. I

Download the new mixtape Rose Island Vol. I from Theophilus London

Theophilus London is no stranger to the mix tape. After a busy couple years of putting out official releases – Lovers Holiday EP in Feb 2011, Timez Are Weird These Days in July 2011 and Timez Are Weird These Nights in April of this year – TL returns to the internets with his highly anticipated mixtape Rose Island Vol. 1, the follow up to 2010’s I Want You mixtape. Your soundtrack to summer has arrived.

Download: Theophilus London – Rose Island Vol. 1

Theophilus recorded most of Rose Island during Christmas in his NYC studio. In typical TL fashion, there’s something for everyone on Rose Island Vol. 1 which is filled with hip hop bangers, electronic club tracks, sing along anthems and, of course, a couple slow jams. Rose Island is an imaginary place in TL’s head where he goes when he needs to escape reality and time. Some of the mix tape highlights include A$AP Rocky, Big Boi, upcoming Producer Lunice, and many more. He also Covers Pharrell Willams “Take it off’ and reworks Wang Chung’s classic “Dance Hall Days.”

Always striving for the full experience, Theophilus has linked with luxury shoe company on the rise Del Toro to design the official Rose Island Slippers. Now fans can listen in the comfort of a custom TL slipper, the same slippers he rocked while creating Rose Island Vol 1. The Rose Island Slipper are limited in quantity and available for pre-order now at http://lvrs.tl/velvetrose.html

Theophilus London is currently out touring the world and has already begun work on the follow to Timez Are Weird These Days as well as his Rose Island Vol. 2 mix tape.

New Video: Santigold – “The Keepers”

Today Santigold premiered the new video for her anthemic track “The Keepers” from her album Master of My Make-Believe (Downtown/Atlantic). In the video, Santigold is a member of the idyllic 1950s American family sitting down to dinner and smiling as the world falls apart around them and the present reality of the United States comes rushing in. The video was directed by Nabil and features cameos by GZA, Kick Kennedy, and Trevor Andrew. Santigold just wrapped up her Spring US tour in support of Master of My Make-Believe. She will be appearing at festivals internationally throughout the summer including Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds. Armed with her hybrid anthems, misfit band, and unstoppable dancers, the SG1s, her singular live shows are always monumental.

Noisey.com is the music channel from the makers of VICE. So you know its going to be good. And fun. The shows are about anything and everything concerning music—the best live jams, geeky record stores clerks, smarmy critics, boob-flashing fans, destroyed hotel rooms, and roadies. Never underestimate the roadies. The Noisey Youtube channel made its debut in February with M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls,” and VICE-produced A$AP Rocky video, “Wassup.” Since then the channel has racked up loads of online content with everyone from David Lynch to Odd Future. On YouTube, Noisey offers music fans the most extensive slate of original online music programming to date, covering not only the artists that matter most, but the trends and opinions that make up today’s music culture.

Newest Love: Oceanics

Rock-pop four-piece, Oceanics have a brand new video for their single Jukebox. Simply put, the video is a video about making a video, directed by Genki Yamasaki and starring actress Cleo Massey of television show H20: Just Add Water. The single is the first from their recent EP, Bright People, recorded with Aria award winning engineer Wayne Connolly (Josh Pyke, The Vines, The Living End). Bright People has seen success in the US and was featured on MTV, MSN and AOL music, and even had a Glee moment, receiving acclaim on the blog, You, Me & Charlie (Dianna Agron of Glee’s blog).

Oceanics are on tour in July with shows along the east-coast of Australia with Hey Geronimo, Velociraptor, and Rockets.

Brand New: The Presets – “Youth in Trouble”

“Youth In Trouble”  is the first taste of new music to come from The Presets in over four years. The track is a never-ending, undulating slice of face-melting techno. Their new album, Pacifica, is due out in September on Casablanca. After several teasers, the band has also premiered of the full video for “Youth In Trouble”, a crazy kaleidoscopic pixilated rollercoaster created by New York based visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka.

The Presets are also releasing remixes of “Youth In Trouble” by Green Velvet, Alex Metric, plus The Finger Prince & Light Year.  Featuring ten prismatic, synth-laced songs, Pacifica sees The Presets boldly venture into new, uncharted musical territories. Traversing both light and shade in energy and emotion, the album was produced by the band – Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes – and mixed in Los Angeles with Tony Hoffer.

Fool’s Gold Clubhouse!!!

For practically five years running, Brooklyn-based label Fool’s Gold has continued to find new ways to excite and surprise their fans, whether it’s releasing new music ranging from Duck Sauce to Danny Brown, throwing massive free parties like their annual Day Off events, opening a retail store in Williamsburg (home to everything from tie dye logo tees to FG x Members Only leather jackets), or most recently, launching a premium digital subscription service with drip.fm.

The latest multimedia project from the DJ braintrust of label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs is the FOOL’S GOLD CLUBHOUSE, a series of festival stages and free monthly compilations featuring Fool’s Gold artists and extended family. The first Clubhouse stage takes place at New York’s Camp Bisco on 7/14 before taking over music festivals around the globe all summer, and the debut Clubhouse compilation is available starting today on the Fool’s Gold website, with new volumes to follow each month.

“Our friends and peers are having a very exciting and prolific moment right now,” says Nick Catchdubs. “As the world goes crazy for all things ‘EDM,’ its important to showcase the diversity that’s out there in dance music on all levels, and curate these songs and stages with the Fool’s Gold touch. A-Trak and I really get to be fans ourselves as we put these together, thinking about how good it’s all going to sound when it’s played loud.”

Free Download: Chris Price – “Homesick”

Chris Price is releasing his solo debut, Homesick, on PTB Records today. Stepping away from the traditional high-priced studio recording methods, Price recorded his entire album on a device most have in their backpocket or purse – an iPhone. Though he never anticipated recording his debut on an iPhone, Price was impressed with the devices quality and, with the help of 4Track Audio Recorder, began recording with his own personal, mobile studio.

Chris’ track, “That’s Your Boyfriend” was featured as iTunes download of the week and Price will be traveling to various Apple stores in the summer to both perform and demonstrate how to record on the iPhone.

Watch: Sebastien Tellier – “Russian Attractions”

Sebastien Tellier just dropped a great new video for “Russian Attractions” with the help of Air (new carbonated water drink with alcohol!) and I highly encourage you to watch it. Starring an olympic caliber synchronized swim team, the video for the latest track from his new album My God Is Blue is reminiscent of a kaleidoscopic Bond title sequence.

In addition to producing the music video, Air and VICE, are hosting an epic free summer dance party series on the west coast in celebration of water getting a lot more exciting.  The series kicks off in Los Angeles featuring free Air (booze) and a rare appearance by renegade French electronic artist Sebastien Tellier on June 28, with the series culminating in a colossal San Francisco finale event on August 2, 2012.

You can RSVP for the FREE Vice / Air Launch Parties that kick off this Thursday in LA with Sebastien Tellier here: http://rsvp.vice.com/AirParties/

The tour continues through the summer in the following cities:

July 13: Portland – Lemonade

July 14: Las Vegas – Nadastrom, Treasure Fingers & AC Slater

July 20: Seattle – Z-Trip & Sinden

August 2: San Francisco – Surkin & Sinden
