Need Smoking Music?

Check out Lance Herbstrong. From electro to dubstep to  drum-and-bass and electronica, Herbstrong’s mixes are as inventive as their name.

These guys played at Lollapalooza last week (anyone see them?), and they’re giving away a couple free tracks of some reggae remixes! I’ve heard it’s great smoke music, too –(uh, I mean…the name is Lance HERBstrong…) so let that be just another incentive to check them out, even if it’s just outta curiousity.

Coming Soon: New Ra Ra Riot

August 24th marks the release date of Ra Ra Riot’s sophomore album, The Orchard. They will soon be embarking on a pretty extensive tour, including playing in Toronto at the Molson Amphitheatre with City and Colour and Tegan and Sara on August 28th. The band will also support Wintersleep during a Western Canadian tour in November. Full tour dates are on their MySpace page here

The Orchard follows the band’s debut full-length, The Rhumb Line, which was released two years ago and hailed by such publications as Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly which called it, “worthy of a living room dance party.”

The album is now available for pre-order at Gallery AC in digital and physical formats, including a deluxe limited edition CD+DVD package with a “making of” documentary. All pre-orders of The Orchard include with a free MP3 of the albums first single, “Boy.” Pssssst…you can also get “Boy” here by entering your email address! (It’s fantastic, so I suggest you just do it!)

Setting Sun – “The Sympathetic CEO”

Setting Sun has released a new single, “The Sympathetic CEO” which is about the before and after of the recession. The song is from the perspective of a CEO who’s profited at the expense of others until the economy flops. It’s then that he reflects upon his role in the current financial state. Despite the song being about the job force, economy and politics; it’s not an annoying song by any means! It’s still a sunny song, which is what I like about it.

Setting Sun is currently touring with Quitzow (I posted about both bands last month here), and they’ve also released a new track called “Whatever.” It’s got super fun lyrics like, “Whatever…I do what I want; I dress up like your new age mom.”

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED: New Cut Copy!!!

Just the other day Cut Copy released their newest single, “Where I’m Going.” Their new album won’t be out until January next year, which saddens me. But, I am ecstatic to have a new song from them in the meantime.

In Ghost Colours is from 2008, but doesn’t it seem like absolute ages ago?!?!

Go download “Where I’m Going” for free from Cut Copy’s website!!!
