Holy shit!!! I haven’t been this excited in quite some time!!!
On Saturday, April 11 RATATAT (the duo of Mike Stroud and Evan Mast) took to the Coachella stage to perform for the first time in four years. During the duo’s performance they debuted new music from their upcoming fifth studio album, due out this summer on XL Recordings. Directly following their performance a new song from the set, “Cream On Chrome,” was made available, check it out below!!!!!
RATATAT recently completed a handful of sold-out shows in Tulsa, Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. RATATAT will also perform at Governor’s Ball and Capital Hill Block Party music festivals this summer.
RATATAT on tour:
April 15 Pomona, CA Fox Theatre
April 16 San Diego, CA House of Blues
April 18 Indio, CA Coachella
May 30 Barcelona, Spain Primavera Sound
May 31 Paris We Love Green Festival
June 5 New York, NY Governor’s Ball

Today marks the releases of the new Rooney album, Eureka. And from now until Saturday, June 12th, you can go buy the album at Target for a measly $7.99. If you’d like to sample the album before you buy it, it is now streaming on AOL Music.
Two of the songs will also be featured tonight on MTV’s The Hills. They will be featuring “All Or Nothing” and “Not In My House,” so make sure to tune in to hear the songs. They are also the ‘Featured Artist’ in ‘Songs From The Show.’
ALSO, today the new RATATAT album LP4 is available! Whoooooooooo! (I am super excited!) I recommend listening to “Bare Feast” and “Alps.”
I’ve got loads of music news today; but it’s all going to be quite random…so brace yourselves.
FIRST of all, I’d like to mention that Modest Mouse is releasing an 8-track EP today called No One’s First, and You’re Next. They aren’t totally new songs, but rather new versions of outtakes from previous albums. Probably a good thing for anyone that isn’t very familiar with MM’s older stuff. Yes, they did exist before “Float On”.
Next, but of little importance, is the “comeback” of Limp Bizkit. I really have nothing to say about it, I’m only mentioning it because I just read a brief article of their reunion. If YOU are interested in reading more about it, then here’s the link I was looking at: “Limp Bizkit to Make U.S. Comeback, For Some Reason”
RATATAT will be releasing a new album sometime soon, though at this time, I don’t know when (and it’s bugging me!). What I DO know, is that Kid Cudi (the guy that does that song “Day n’ Nite”) is a fan. I like Kid Cudi’s popular single, but I did do a run through on his album and I think it might be the only song I really like. BUT, that’s not to say that others will like it. Plus, who knows? Maybe it’ll grow on me. I will say that Kid Cudi is much cooler than I originally thought just because Ratatat is an inspiration to him. And that the duo collaborated on Cudi’s debut Man on the Moon: The End of the Day (release date: September 15).
Other albums coming out in the near future:
August 18th – Cascada, Sean Paul, and Division Day (which I will be reviewing)
August 24th – David Guetta
August 25th – Imogen Heap, Matisyahu, Mew, Arctic Monkeys, and Jet
September 1st – Datarock
