Possibly the greatest-ever song about childhood BFFs. – Entertainment Weekly

Twelve-time Grammy winner and lead singer of multi-platinum selling group The White Stripes, Jack White, released his first children’s book today titled WE’RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS. Based on lyrics from one of The Whites Stripes’ most enduring and loved songs-and releasing just a few months after the group’s 20th anniversary (July 14, 2017), the perennial favorite feels right at home on the page as a children’s book. Get your copy of the book here: http://smarturl.it/WGTBFbook

Beautifully illustrated by Elinor Blake, animator on Ren & Stimpy and Pee-wee’s Playhouse, in the signature colors of The White Stripes — red, white, and black — WE’RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS follows the adventures of the song’s protagonist, Suzy Lee, as she goes to school with her books and pens, looks for bugs, shows and tells, and finds a friend. Fans of The White Stripes will delight in this new way of experiencing the song and sharing it with their children-while a new generation of music and book lovers will be introduced to the beloved song and its whimsical evocation of the simplicity and nostalgia of childhood, for the first time.

Every copy of WE’RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS also includes a download of the original White Stripes song and new versions by singer/songwriter, April March (also known as Elinor Blake), and The Woodstation Elementary School Singers.

“Imagine the crunch of The White Stripes and the sheer raunch of Prince and you’d be somewhere close to Beware Of Darkness.” – CLASH Mag

LA-based Beware of Darkness reveal album release details today for their forthcoming LP Are You Real? out on September 16th via Bright Antenna Records.  Fans who pre-order album will receive singles “Dope” and “Muthafucka” instantly.

Are You Real? is the band’s biggest and boldest statement yet.  The 12-track collection serves as an urgent call to arms not only for frontman Kyle Nicolaides, but for the band’s sound as well.  The music ushers the rebirth of a sound that is as refreshing as it is addictive, and goes much deeper than riffs.

The album illustrates how a rock star on the rise fought uncertainty and disillusionment to avoid flaming out. And, more importantly, how he has come through the other side revitalized and focused, and with the best songs of his young career.

“ …adding in big beats, subtracting the scuzzy guitars, smoothing out the chorus, and having Alcock give his best Jack-White-yelping impression.” – NYLON

“…a sticky indie edit of the old-school, feel-groovy joint.”  VIBE

The New Royales have a background as interesting as the music they create together. The band has released Freedom’s For The Brave – an album of covers featuring some of their various influences, including tracks by Depeche Mode, The Zombies, Jefferson Airplane & more.

The band previously unveiled their interpretation of The Monks’ classic, “Drugs In My Pocket“ and their irresistible take on The White Stripes’ “Fell In Love With A Girl.” Now, they release Freedom’s For The Brave and the full album is streaming for your listening pleasure!!!

The New Royales’ Liz Rodrigues recently lent her voice to Eminem’s latest hit, “Survival.” 2-time GRAMMY winning (4-time nominated) producer, DJ Khalil, has worked with the likes of Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Drake & Kendrick Lamar. In addition, DJ Khalil and Liz, along with Canadian multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Erik Alcock & Chin Injeti, have co-written with Pink on her 5 million albums sold, The Truth About Love, Pitbull’s Can’t Stop Me Now & Eminem‘s hit record Marshall Mathers LP 2 (“Survival”), which debuted at #1 on the iTunes album chart.

Hailing from separate parts of the world; Liz, Erik, Chin & DJ Khalil, The New Royales’ diverse makeup lends a hand in the uniqueness of their sound, pushing their own musical boundaries whilst still remaining a cohesive unit.

Their diverse backgrounds and unifying passion and respect for music has led to a sound that is eclectic and futuristic with a twist of the past.

Check ‘Em Out: The Gay Blades

Click to watch the video for "Try To Understand"

Two piece band from NYC, The Gay Blades, have a new album called Savages that’s set for release in October. If you like the Black Keys, definitely give this duo a listen. The tracks all have a little something that makes them stand out, and none of them sound the same either. Opening track “Rock N’ Roll (Part 1)” reminds me a little bit of the White Stripes. “November Fight Song” is another fantastic song from Savages that is original to me in the way that it doesn’t bring any other bands to mind.

Here’s a free download of “Try To Understand” for your enjoyment!
