unnamed (1)

NYC-based jam band Jesus On The Mainline announces the release of their debut self-titled EP. Their sound is reminiscent of rock greats The Black Crowes and Janis Joplin, while simultaneously drawing influences from blues, jazz and funk classics like Stevie Wonder, Louis Armstrong and Quincy Jones.  This fifteen-piece band fuses jazz, soul, bluegrass and rock for an improvisational music experience that is unique from show to show.

Lead Vocalist Andrew Neesley is an award-winning musician, who flavors this unique musical collective with his contemporary jazz background. He performed with the Grammy-nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band, while receiving his advanced degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Jesus On The Mainline formed in 2012 in New York City and currently features a rotating cast of fifteen active members. Singers Mel Flannery, Amanda Brecker and Tim Emmerick compliment frontman Andrew Neesley’s lead vocals, while a sprawling five-piece instrumental section lead on the horns, percussion, keyboards, and guitars.

Neesley has played renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, The Apollo Theater and The Jazz Standard. He has also been awarded the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer’s Award, the Student Award for Best Engineered Studio Album for DownBeat Magazine and won the National Trumpet Competition. Jesus On The Mainline has played sold out shows at famous New York venues, such as Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge.

You can listen to the full EP stream below that Crave described as “…A rising sound that swells like a wave as it blends the spirit of Aretha Franklin into a soulful dance-romp through territories inhabited by Fitz and The Tantrums, Portugal. The Man and beyond.”

Check ‘Em Out: Blank Paper

artworks-000083806868-6qqmdy-t500x500

Listen: Blank Paper – “Whip”

Blank Paper is a Brooklyn-based Synth-Pop Quartet comprised of Marie Kim (vox / keys), Taylor Bense (keys / synth), Cory Sterling (keys, bass), and Chris Holdridge (drums / synth). The group is the result of four eclectic and distinctive musical backgrounds that have come together to produce playfully melodic and dance friendly, yet dark synth-pop music. The band originated in NYC in 2012 and released their debut EP, Tape Dreams in early 2013. “Whip” is the third single from their self-titled EP, which came out yesterday!
Several years prior to the release of the first Blank Paper EP, the quartet met and became friends in college. Taylor Bense (at the time) a session guitarist and songwriter, invited Marie Kim to start singing on his compositions and write together. Taylor, Chris Holdridge and Cory Sterling had a band together, and Marie her own. After these projects disbanded, the four of them naturally came together to write and perform, sharing their passion for feel-good music with a darker edge.
Artists like Kavinsky, Little Dragon, The Knife, and The Gorillaz inspire their sound, but the band’s originality and musicianship take Blank Paper to a new level of innovation within the pop context. A rarity in electronic synth-heavy music, their live show is completely free of laptops and backing tracks.

Stream NONONO’s DEBUT Album!!!

unnamed (2)
Swedish alt-pop trio NONONO have made their debut album We Are Only What We Feel available to stream now on Hype Machine today, one week before its July 1st release.

The album follows on last year’s Pumpin Blood EP, which spawned the Top 40 hit of the same name. “Pumpin Blood” was featured in a commercial campaign for Garnier Fructis, Universal Pictures’ film Endless Love, Glee, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol, Revenge, Cougar Town and Vampire Diaries, among others.

The band describe We Are Only What We Feel as “dark and beat-oriented.” Songs such as “Down Under” and “Like The Wind” capture various styles, genres, and moods. “There’s something that ties the sound of the songs together but they’re all a little bit of different,” Wappling says. “We never wanted to decide upon a genre or what the NONONO sound was. We just always go with what we felt like and what inspired us that day. You go from being happy to being sad to being shallow to being deep, so whatever mood we’ve been in that’s what song will emerge.” Adds Michel: “We would really like to make an emotional impact on people. All the songs come from the heart.”

Album Stream: Kid Cudi – Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon

Kid Cudi wowed fans with the release of his full-length new album, Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon [Wicked Awesome / Republic Records], at midnight on iTunes and all other digital retailers in North America.

Surprising countless fans worldwide, the Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, producer, and actor uncovered the album today without any prior hints or notice at all. It’s also only available in its entirety for one week as a full album purchase.

Cudi has been secretly preparing his latest work since wrapping up his last tour supporting 2013’s critically regarded chart-topper, Indicud, which was the #1 hip-hop album in the country upon release.

Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon once again sees the artist steering hip-hop to another galaxy altogether. Already, he gave listeners a taste of the set with the transfixing “Going To The Ceremony”. The album also includes a detour into “space” soul with Raphael Saadiq entitled “Balmain Jeans”, marking their first collaboration. Tempering otherworldly production with his inimitable vocal hooks and divine flow, it’s another entrancing and enigmatic vision from the rap auteur.

Tracklisting:

  1. Destination: Mother Moon
  2. Going To the Ceremony
  3. SATELLITE FLIGHT
  4. Copernicus Landing
  5. Balmain Jeans feat. Raphael Saadiq
  6. Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now
  7. Internal Bleeding
  8. In My Dreams 2015
  9. Return Of The Moon Man (Original Score)

Earlier this week, Rolling Stone premiered the song “You,” proclaiming it “exists at the intersection between modern EDM and classic Eighties synth-pop.” Similarly, the album’s enthralling first single “Sleepwalking,'” which is featured on the television commercial for Grand Theft Auto V, recently debuted at #1 on the Alt Specialty Radio Chart and was also added to Sirius XM’s Alt Nation playlist. The song was nominated for Spike TV’s Video Game (VGX) Awards for “Best Song In A Game,” and is the most popular on the GTAV soundtrack , with over 30K sold.

Led by the genre-jumping singer/multi-instrumentalist Kamtin Mohager, the band will be performing at SXSW and Governor’s Ball, with additional tour dates coming soon.

Daydream Forever was produced by Isom Innis (Foster The People) with additional production and mixing from Tony Hoffer (M83, Phoenix). The new album is the anticipated follow-up to The Chain Gang of 1974’s widely acclaimed 2011 debut Wayward Fire, which Esquire declared “one of the summer’s most surprisingly fantastic new records,” earning similar praise from the likes of SPINMTVFADERNYLONRCRD LBL and more. They have shared the stage with the likes of Foster the People, Big Audio Dynamite, Tapes N Tapes, and The Naked and Famous, as well as a lauded performance at 2011’s Lollapalooza, which Yahoo proclaimed “a fabulous onstage display.”
