New LCD Soundsystem Single

Pitchfork’s got it! Click here to go listen to the new single from LCD Soundsystem’s upcoming new album This Is Happening.

When’s the album set for release? MAY 18th!

From Pitchfork:

James Murphy told us that the song is “about drunk people and fun things and the fact that all of the boys of the L.A. mansion we recorded at were called ‘the girls’ by our chef. We were the ladies of the mansion.”

The Disco Biscuits, On Time

The Disco Biscuits are taking the pre-order game to a whole new level. Everyone and their mother does the signed CD/poster/ticket bundle (which they’ll be doing too), but that’s not the good stuff. Starting TODAY fans have the opportunity to pre-order an autographed copy of Planet Anthem (Out March 16th via their own Diamond Riggs/ILG) and pick from over 32 different combination options. These (most awesome) options include but are not limited to:

* Dinner with the band

* An opportunity to sing on the next Biscuits record

* Writing the band’s setlist for a night

* Shots of Jameson with the band

* Playing a song with the band on stage during a show

* Guitar/Bass/Keyboard/Drum lessons with a band member

* Attending a Philadelphia Eagles game with the band

* Playing tennis verses the band

For a full list and pre-ordering, check out http://planetanthem.com/

And have another listen to the Juan MacLean  remix of “You and I” by clicking here!

From press release:

Planet Anthem marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band. Since they formed in 1995, the guys created their own movement by fusing the jam band and electronic music scenes. However, their forthcoming release prominently features elements of pop, indie dance, hip hop, and straight up rock music. This is not the band you think they are. This is a band that makes damn good pop songs that, if you gave them a chance, would resonate with you. Don’t be scared, give it a whirl.

The Biscuits collaborated for the first time with multiple producers, songwriters, and outside musicians, including Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry (Ludacris, Chris Brown, Beanie Sigel). The result is an album filled with sing along melodies and infectious beats. Another first, the new video for “You and I” has been added to rotation at both MTV2 and MTVu and the band is going to be hosting Subterranean as well.

After plowing through 5 sold-out dates at Nokia Theatre in NYC over New Years and four sold-out shows at Boulder, CO’s Fox Theatre in January, The Biscuits will hit the road again starting tonight in Baltimore. The band will be performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami alongside Tiesto, Deadmau5, Carl Cox, Passion Pit, Major Lazer and more. They’ll also be playing Bonnaroo 2010 this June in Manchester, TN. They also just announced details for the annual music festival they put together, Camp Bisco, which is now in in 9th year.  Past performers have included Snoop Dogg, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, The Roots, MSTRKRFT, Nas and Damien Marley, Girl Talk, and Kid Cudi.  This year, the event will take place July 15 – 17 in Mariaville, New York. Lastly, the Biscuits will be hosting their even Bisco Inferno at Red Rocks on May 29th. This year’s lineup will feature Aeroplane, Pnuma Trio, The Crystal Method (DJ Set), Booka Shade, The Glitch Mob and of course 2 sets of the Biscuits.

Highly Anticipated: Free Energy

Be on the lookout for the upcoming debut album from Free Energy. Produced by DFA’s electronic musician James Murphy of LCD Soundsytem, Free Energy’s release Stuck on Nothing will hopefully please. From what I’ve heard so far, I know I am pleased.

It Starts with Alex Metric

New (as of just yesterday) is an EP from Alex Metric. It Starts is composed of 4 tracks, the last being the title track remix by Evil Nine. You can buy the mp3’s at Amazon or Amie Street. (If you’re a member at Amie Street, then obviously you’ll wanna buy it there because it’s cheaper!!! Right now it’s under a dollar, but that probably won’t last too long!)

I am not sure why it’s been classified as house, though. Clearly, it’s electronica and I have a hard time hearing any house in the songs. Regardless, it’s some good stuff; I especially am likin’ the title track.

Subcontrario (In Stereo)

subcontrario

Last month, Dovecote Records released a debut album from Trevor Giuliani called Subcontrario (In Stereo).

Trevor’s music has been compared to Andrew Bird and Sufjan Stevens. It’s  experimental folk-pop music that soothes ya to the core.  Giuliani has been sharing the stage with the likes of Cass McCombs, Papercuts, Richard Buckner, and more.

Check out his song, “Wasting Your Town” by clicking here.

Your Soul Wants to Dance

After waiting a few years, Tortured Soul is set for their sophomore album release on the 24th. Their debut Introducing had lots of people talking, amazed with the new aspect of LIVE house music.

Now, Did You Miss Me is a 13 track continuation of Introducing. It’s being released on their own new label, TSTC Records.

Here’s a couple things that have been said about Tortured Soul:

“The future of house music…you have to see them live.” – Gilles Peterson, Radio 1

“Tortured Soul create blissed-out tracks that curl around your head like cigarette smoke.” – XLR8R

Incorporating soul with pop and dance, Tortured Soul has dance-able tracks with jazz elements. They’re hitting up some awesome cities this spring, including Pittsburgh, so I’m definitely going to try to make this show.

Here’s their touring schedule:

03/07: Atlanta, GA @ Apache Cafe
03/27: New York, NY @ Fillmore NY at Irving Plaza
04/04: West Hollywood, CA @ The Roxy Theatre
05/19: New York, NY @ Highline Ballroom
05/21: Cleveland, OH @ Grog Shop
05/22: Chicago, IL @ Double Door
05/23: Detroit, MI @ Cliff Bells
05/24: Pittsburgh, PA @ Shadow Lounge
05/28: Allston, MA @ Harper’s Ferry
05/30: Baltimore, MD @ The 8 x 10
06/27: Los Angeles, CA @ Los Angeles Memorial
