Following numerous Beatport Top 10 smashes and a slew of top festival and club appearances, DJ/producer Mord Fustang announces plans to release his debut album,9999 in 1, on his own label Magic Trooper in early 2015. Finally lifting the curtain on the enigmatic wizard famed for merging teched-out house, disco, electro, glitch, and hard bass grooves in a single track.
Now, following an exclusive premiere with EDM.com, Mord releases lead single “Drivel”,his first new track since he took the dance world by storm with breakthrough 2011 hits“The Electric Dream,” “Lick The Rainbow,” “Milky Way,” “Magic Trooper,” “Champloo” and “Taito” on the renowned Plasmapool label.
Paying homage to his video game roots, Drivel is an electro-house anthem laced with the primitive sounds contained on the bootleg Nintendo cartridges of his youth – the first electronic music he’d ever heard. A true “classic Mord track” as he calls it, Drivel sets the tone for the electronic concept album that is 9999 in 1, who’s title derives from the random numbers on the plastic yellow cartridges of his first bootleg video games. “The album is a 8-bit homage I have for those games,” Mord states of 9999 in 1.
From remixing for the likes of LMFAO, Morgan Page, and CeCe Penniston to being voted Beatport’s “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” in 2012, Mord fast became an in-demand global attraction, bringing his laptop-smashing DJ/live performance everywhere from London’s legendary Ministry of Sound to the U.S.’s Coachella, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, and Ultra music festivals.
It was this success that laid the foundation for Mord Fustang’s artist album debut, a masterwork created over a two year stay in Los Angeles that builds on the innovative groundwork he’s already built, and trailblazes into some unexpected zones, too.
With more tracks to be revealed in the coming months, Mord is certainly a producer to keep your eyes and ears on this fall.
Las Vegas electronic dance music producer and artist 3LAUjust revealed his brand new single “How You Love Me” featuring Bright Lights on iTunes and other digital retailers today. This marks his first release through Casablanca and Republic Records, formally initiating this exciting partnership for the 22-year-old impresario.
“How You Love Me”teeters between propulsive and powerful house music production and the impassioned and inimitable vocals of Grammy Award-nominated singer Bright Lights. It’s a slick, smooth, and sexy anthem meant to make listeners dance the world over.
Already, BPM and Radio One’s Danny Howard have embraced the track, and it has garnered enthusiastic support from Tiësto, Nicky Romero, and Hardwell. The track arrives hot on the heels of last year’s “Escape” [featuring Paris & Simo], which landed in Beatport’s Top 3 and peaked at 23 on Billboard’s Dance/ Mix Show Chart. It’s easy to love this irresistible major label debut from 3LAU.
The song hits the web just in time for his first performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on the Worldwide Stage March 28 at 5pm alongside some of the genre’s biggest names. That’s not the only gig on deck this week for him though. He’ll be rocking a total of ten high-profile shows for Miami Music Week.
With his own self-proclaimed “Dance Floor Filth” sound, 3LAUis quickly becoming an EDM phenomenon. Self-taught on piano, guitar, and drums at five-years-old, he built a faithful fan base at a rapid rate with “Escape” in 2013. In addition, he also hosts his own “3LAU HAUS” podcast, which draws thousands of listeners monthly.

In the past year, Boys Noize has toured the US, Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa with his signature SKULL, and performed headline shows at ULTRA, Bonnaroo, HARD Summer and HARD Day Of The Dead. In addition to releasing the GO HARD EP last June, Boys Noize teamed up with Skrillex this year to form the new group Dog Blood and lit up Coachella, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo and HARD Summer with an electrifying live show. It was mystifying but fascinating—the Sahara Tent became its own congregation complete with everything but the swinging incense.” In September 2013 Dog Blood released the Middle Finger Part II EP.
Dutch DJ duo Bingo Players recently dropped “Get Up (Rattle)” featuring Far East Movement, their new single on Casablanca Records. This superstar duo—Paul Bäumer and Maarten Hoogstraten—remains a vital force in electronic dance music as both artists and producers, and the song’s immediate success paves the way for even bigger things to come.
Already, “Get Up (Rattle)” has exceeded 13 million YouTube views for its wonderfully wacky and wild music video, featuring ornery ducks that take down a vicious street gang and restore order to a city. The track, already a #1 hit in the UK, is a new version of last year’s instrumental club and festival anthem “Rattle,” which begins with an impenetrable hook that precedes the rhythmic stylings of Far East Movement, just before a massive drop that comes in to ignites the dance floor. The duo also has a string of tour dates coming up, including a coveted sundown slot at Coachella on April 20.
“Get Up (Rattle)” follows a string of Beatport chart-toppers including “Cry (Just A Little)” and “Out Of My Mind” released on their very own Hysteria label. Live, Bingo Players have performed at the biggest festivals in the world including, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, Creamfields, Electric Zoo and more!

The Japanese Popstars – Gary Curran, Declan ‘Decky Hedrock’ McLaughlin and Gareth Donoghue – may have been together for just four years, but they’ve carved out a reputation to rival the biggest names in dance music as a must-see live act and purveyor of raucous, foot-stomping, energetic electronic dance music. In the two years since their debut album We Just Are dropped on Gung-Ho! (UK), they have played major market dates in the U.S. including Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Electric Daisy Carnival in LA, played in Australia, across Europe and, of course Japan – a place that’s especially taken them to their hearts.
The band has also made a name for themselves as sought after remixers, having notched up their own inimitable re-rubs for luminaries such as Beyonce, Depeche Mode, Gorillaz and Kylie Minogue. In keeping with this proud tradition, The Japanese Popstars were also featured in the Tron Remix album, Tron: Legacy Reconfigured with their take on Daft Punk‘s Arena.
But it’s Controlling Your Allegiance, that’s the real leap forward as this is The Japanese Popstars first use of vocalists on an album. And they didn’t pick just any old session singers either… Wonder why the track “Take Forever” sounds like The Cure? That’s because the trio has enlisted collaborations from top notch artists such as Robert Smith (The Cure), Lisa Hannigan, Jon Spencer (of Blues Explosion), Tom Smith (The Editors), Green Velvet, Morgan Kibby, M83 and Ireland’s James Vincent McMorrow.
I’m not sure what this video is really about…and I’m not sure what that creature is. All I know is that I felt bad for it while watching…it sort of made me sad. Quite an odd video.
Anyhow, you’ll like them if you’re a fan of Depeche Mode and Gorillaz.
