New Track: The Presets – “Ghosts”

Today The Presets revealed their new single “Ghosts”, from their forthcoming album Pacifica (out digitally on September 10 and in stores the 11th via Casablanca).  The single will be available on iTunes August 21.

Minor-keyed Merengue grooves are topped with First Fleet melodies, while synth washes and skittering beats glide effortlessly across the track’s rollicking, undulating peaks and valleys.

“When Julian played me his initial sketch of this song it utterly blew my mind, “ explains Kim. “Taking a classic folk style, sea shanty and adding it to an up tempo techno groove was just genius to my ears.”

The Presets recently released the video for Pacifica track “Youth in Trouble”. Watch the kaleidoscopic pixilated roller coaster, created by New York based visual artist Yoshi Sodeoka, here. The single and remix package for  “Youth In Trouble” are available now on iTunes.

Video: Vacationer – “Trip”

Vacationer (Downtown Records) announces the worldwide release of their visually stunning video for single, “Trip.” The video was shot on Oahu’s North Shore by surf cult cinematographer Dave Homcy.

Vacationer teamed up with Lomography, the international community dedicated to analogue photography, for the filming, the first partnership of this kind. The video was shot on Lomography’s old school-esque LomoKino 35mm movie camera.

“The LomoKino cameras that we used to film this played a huge role in this video. Its character played a major role in the final cut. The visual effect of modern footage captured by analog means complement the essence of our musical production. Warm, choppy, and vibrant are all adjectives I’d use to describe the LomoKino’s developed film, they are also words I would hope people use to describe Vacationer music. The marriage of the two makes total sense to me. I hope everyone enjoys this,” says lead singer Kenny Vasoli.

Vacationer will go back out on the road this fall with Bombay Bicycle Club, after touring with Naked and Famous, the Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Tennis and Walk The Moon. Their debut album, Gone was released this spring through Downtown Records.

Video: Black Strobe – “Boogie in Zero Gravity”

a steamy, sweaty basement jam streaked with rivulets of disco-funk.”SPIN Magazine

Jazzy electronica? Yes, please!

Black Strobe released EP Boogie in Zero Gravity, the third and strongest in a series of EP releases this year on Black Strobe Records. Black Strobe, a phrase which aptly calls to mind a darker envisioning of airy, superficial dance music, is spearheaded by prolific musician Arnaud Rebotini. The EP builds off Rebotini’s record as a pioneering artist in the genre of post-apocalyptic electronica, as well as his 2007 foray into blues-rock with the acclaimed LP Burn Your Own Church. Rebotini does not hesitate to blend elements of both genres on this new EP – creating an addictively groovy mix of jazzy riffs and ambient electronica beats where smoky vocals and blues guitar solos are just as prominent as the irresistible beat loops that put Black Strobe’s name on the map back in the 90’s. The EP also features four stellar remixes from nu-disco producers all over the world – listen to them now!

Listen: Black Strobe – “Boogie in Zero Gravity” (Extended Version + Remixes)

A prelude to a single release in November and a brand new full length in 2013, Boogie in Zero Gravity represents not just the next step in the journey of an electronic legend but the birth of a new, funky and uncontrived house sound that is bound to explode upon its release into the world of EDM.

Caveman – “Vampirer/Old Friend”

This is a sweet and creepy video from Peter Sarsgaard for Caveman’s “Old Friend” mini-movie directed by Philip Di Fiore.

“A dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind, that would make “Twilight Zone” creator Rod Serling feel warm all over, but strikes a creepy chord for the rest of us.” IFC

“…a high-concept, intriguing clip featuring the ruins of an afterparty, a disembodied Peter Sarsgaard and a spooky, vintage cinema aesthetic. It’s intense.” – Stereogum

Dayglow: America’s Largest Paint Party!

Click image to check out Dayglow’s Facebook page

Dayglow (Life in Color), known worldwide as the “World’s Largest Paint Party”, have announced their most ambitious tour to date. With a staggering 30 dates already confirmed for the “2012 The E.N.D (Electronic Never Dies) Tour”, the epic scope of this festival is second to none.

Taking the paint party to new levels of production, technology and talent, Dayglow events are meticulously designed and produced, the refined culmination of years within the now booming electronic music industry.

Events now play host to the globes most electrifying DJ talent. Names like; Sander van Doorn, Chuckie, Alesso, R3hab, Axwell, Laidback Luke, Benny Benassi and resident Dayglow DJ David Solano have all graced the stages of Dayglow in 2012. The event itself is so exciting for festival goers that ticket sales continue to skyrocket even before the names of headliners are released.

Dayglow, along with parent company Committee Entertainment, have always been a key player in the world of dance music festivals for some 10 combined years. With over 200 sold out shows already to their credit, the enormity of accomplishments and events is unmatched. The promoters have brought the festival to an international audience as well, having showcased the Dayglow experience in Poland, Australia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Canada and Ecuador.

And make no mistake about it this party IS an experience. Not content to rest on the tried and true methods of typical concert productions, Dayglow ramped things up by creating a truly immersive experience. Paint cannons blast party-goers (who are always encouraged to wear white) with spectacular colors, while LED screens create a symbiotic visual effect that permeates through to every last person within eye-shot. Performers interact from the stage and inside the massive crowd to further enhance the interactive experience between party goer and event. At Dayglow, the lines between talent and patron are permanently blurred.
