Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton–collectively known as Electric Guest have confirmed an April 24 release date (that’s tomorrow!) for their Danger Mouse-produced Downtown Records/Fontana North debut album, Mondo.
The thoroughly unsettling video for album cut “American Daydream,” directed by Jorma Taccone (The Lonely Island, Saturday Night Live), premiered across MTV’s various platforms on January 23.
The duo is set to begin the second leg of their national tour on April 25.

Check out this awesomeness from Danish band, Straight From The Harp. The song was mixed by Lars Iversen of The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. The video is inspired by movies by Wong Kar-wai, Hitchcock and Danish Lars von Trier and they recorded the video themselves on an iPhone. Their upcoming album, I’m On Fire Just For You, will be out May 29th.

The Spring Standards are preparing to release their new record, yellow//gold, consisting of two emotionally-charged EPs that tell intertwining stories of growing up and leaving home to embark on a new adventure. yellow evokes a sense of nostalgia for the trio’s shared childhoods—they started playing folk music together as teenagers in the rural landscapes of the Pennsylvania/Delaware border— while gold is a declaration of young life in a big city, bursting with energy. Magic Wands are set to release their full-length debut, Aloha Moon, on April 24th via Bright Antenna/ILG. The album debuted at #1 this week on the Alternative Specialty Radio charts and their single “Black Magic” has hit the #3 spot. “Black Magic” will also be featured on Gossip Girl April 23rd, the night before the record is released. The track also appeared on an episode of The Vampire Diaries that aired March 15th.
Magic Wands have recorded a cover version of the early Madonna song, “Burning Up”. The band is giving away the track as a free download at RCRD LBL: http://bit.ly/Hx8Ubc. The single, “Black Magic”, is now available for purchase at iTunes. CD and vinyl for Aloha Moon is currently available for pre-sale on the band’s website. During the pre-sale, buyers will receive a collector’s edition picture disc.
Magic Wands first garnered attention with the release of a noteworthy EP, Magic Love & Dreams, which quickly drew praise from publications like Nylon, who applauded their “sparkling, psychedelic-pop gems.” The band honed their live chops, solidifying their fanbase touring alongside The Kills, The Horrors, The Raconteurs, The Black Keys, The Virgins, Black Kids and The Teenagers, as well as appearances at SXSW and Lollapalooza. Brooklyn-based Secret Music (comprised of Chase Nicholl and Daniel Fry) have premiered the wild, new music video for their single, “Ghost in the Graveyard,” on Vice’s Noisey YouTube channel.
The rowdy track, which was produced by Passion Pit’s Ayad Al Adhamy, is from the band’s self-titled debut, which dropped on March 6th via Black Bell Records/Warner Music’s ILG. The video stars stunt man and Guinness World Record Holder for Longest Body Burn, Ted Batchelor – who plays a character escaping his tedious, suburban lifestyle, and winds up lighting himself on fire. The song is a perfect fit for the video’s outrageous story plot.
Additionally, Secret Music is thrilled to announce the band’s West Coast tour with rockers Middle Class Rut and Beware of Darkness that kicks-off on April 21st. While on the road, Nicholl and Fry will be joined on stage with touring members Dave Weingarten (drums), Jared Rich (keys/synth) and Michael Boss (bass), that will help to flesh out Secret Music’s infectious sound.

NYC natives Hollis Brownmake music that is lush, raw and full of heart. The band’s Nothing & The Famous No One EP will be released digitally on April 3rd. For an early taste, the band has released a video for album track “Ride On The Train,” a triumphant song of new beginnings lead by warm, crackling guitar over booming piano.
Nothing & The Famous No One opens with the emotionally charged, bluesy love ballad, “Gypsy Black Cat.” The classic rock & roll track “Spoonful” features guest vocals by Deer Tick’s John McCauley. The band recorded Nothing & The Famous No One with producer Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Middle Brother) in Nashville during the summer of 2011. Taking great care to create a warm, vintage sound, the tracks were recorded live, straight to analog tape.

The video is a continuation of a thread which began in their last video for “Paddling Out.” In that video, a group of unfortunates were abducted to space in an experiment to create a perfect human named Jean Noel. Following some pretty brutal chainsaw surgery, the video ended with Jean crashing to earth in a spaceship seemingly manned by classical-era twins.
Both videos were directed by Swedish Director Andreas Nillson, who’s work includes MGMT and Fever Ray. Rumours the entire plot was cooked up after a real life after hours chain saw massacre are currently unconfirmed.

Danny Avila, the 16-year-old Spanish DJ and producer who recently floored clubbers in London and Germany with astonishing debut performances alongside the likes of Fedde le Grand and Martin Solveig, announced today his official summer residency at BlueMarlin Ibiza.
The iconic venue, which each year plays host to the beautiful, the jet-set and the who’s who of Balearic royalty, welcomes Avila as their youngest ever resident – and in doing so adds its weight to the growing numbers inside the industry swiftly touting Danny as one of the most exciting talents to hit house for years.
To give you just a taste of what Blue Marlin can expect from Avila, check out his official video from Ministry of Sound in London. Making his first ever UK appearance at the express invitation of le Grand for the Dutchman’s roadblock Takeover party back in February, his two and a half hour set blew the capital’s collective clubbing mind. In the words of one London clubber, “Danny Avila was the madness – he’s one of the DJs of the year!”
Canadian pop-rock icons Tegan and Sara are in the studio recording their as-yet-untitled seventh studio album, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2009 album Sainthood.
“Sara and I are trying to step outside of our comfort zones and push ourselves to the extreme with this one so get ready for a whole new T+S sound!” Tegan says. “We strive to keep things fresh and exciting with each new record and I definitely feel like we’re accomplishing that so far.”
Fans can keep up with their progress via an online web series “Carpool Confessional,” which captures them in the car as they travel to and from the studio each day. New episodes (which have featured such special guests as fun., Sia, and AFI’s Hunter Burgan) are posted every Tuesday on www.teganandsara.com.
