New Music From Typhoon

Check out the latest single “Rorschach” from Typhoon.

The video concept is a play on “the idea of being stuck inside your subconscious, fixated on one memory, while questioning it over and over again.”

“Rorschach” is the first single taken off of “Floodplains“, the opening 4-track movement (released last month) from Typhoon’s forthcoming LP, Offerings. Following the critically-acclaimed White LighterOfferings will be the band’s first full-length release in over four years and will be out on Jan 12, 2018.
The band have also just announced their upcoming North American and UK/EU tours for Winter 2018.

Amazon Original Playlist: Indie for the Holidays

Beginning today, one of the most popular Amazon Original holiday playlists will premiere brand new tracks to help listeners get into the festive spirit. From artists including Best Coast, Albert Hammond Jr., Matt Costa, and Jessica Lea Mayfield, “Indie for the Holidays” offers an incredible range of artists covering holiday classics and contributing new original songs. All songs are available exclusively for streaming today on Amazon Music through Amazon Music Unlimited and Prime Music.

On the list is Best Coast covering The Beach Boys’ “Little Saint Nick.” “Being from California and being heavily influenced by The Beach Boys we felt like we had to cover this one!,” said Best Coast’s Bethany Consentino. “Also always fun for me to cover a song with a wall of harmonies and background vocals because it’s my favorite part of recording vocals.”

The popular “Indie for the Holidays” playlist adds 18 new songs this holiday season, including tracks from some of the genre’s most acclaimed stars. Kevin Morby wraps up a banner year that saw the release of his widely lauded breakthrough City Music, by contributing a moody, crooning take on “Blue Christmas.” Charly Bliss, whose debut album Guppy has likewise seen widespread praise in 2017, offer a driving and delightful version of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” DJ Camilo Lara’s Mexican Institute of Sound and indie rock mainstays Best Coast, Eisley, Albert Hammond Jr, and Dean & Britta also join the playlist for the first time this year.

Additionally, Matt Costa recorded his own track, “Anything Helps,” for individuals who are less fortunate around the holidays. Costa says, “I recently saw a friend who fell to a dark place and was too embarrassed to ask for help. People joined funds together to get him back on his feet and into a warm bed with shelter. ‘Anything Helps’ is dedicated to those who have donated time and money to help people in a crisis. It tears me up to see people suffer. But it is encouraging to see extra strong people lift the burden of others. I put heavy consideration into the title so the song did not have a negative feeling, but would inspire people to look at these problems and think of positive ways to help.”

Priest Releases Debut Album

“Stockholm, Sweden’s PRIEST is a must-hear. A must-add to your #musicradar.”
– Puregrainaudio

“It’d be easy to slap the synthwave tag on Priest in light of that genre’s recent explosion in popularity, but Priest sound a whole lot more like the bands that influenced synthwave, the ’80s progenitors of goth, new wave and analogue synth-driven electronic music.”
– Metal Sucks

Today, Priest drops their full-length debut New Flesh. Like a Delorean DMC-12 it will take you back to the colorful future of the 80´s. The illusions presented contains everything from symmetric star prisms, a burning escape from the darkness or to break out of your inner prison. Bit by bit, fragments of a puzzle of success story is taking shape. With a mechanical sound, futuristic melodies and a masterful voice, they´ve seduced listeners all over the planet since their first single in March came out. The Swedish electronic scene is now hotter than forgeable metal.

The album is produced by Alpha (ex Ghost) and features a performace by Airghoul (ex Ghost). The recording is mixed by Niklas Berglöf (Slagsmålsklubben, Dead Soul) and is mastered by Magnus Lindberg. New Flesh contains 10 tracks that sounds like when 1982 imagine how 2019 should sound like.

Listen: Moglii x Novaa – “Tonic Water” (Snocker Cot Remix)

Moglii by Sebastian Lehner

Off the back of the successful debut ‘Naboo’ EP from German musical prodigy Moglii, Majestic Casual Records presents the release of the “Tonic Water” remix from 19 year old LA producer Nick Minutaglio aka Snocker Cot.

Snocker Cot

The remix provides the perfect additions in production to complement what was already a textured, intricate soundscape on the original. Pitched vocals, lush hooks, moody synths and a carefree guitar melody carry the track to create a vibe which serves to “overcome contradictions and catch attention with unexpected sounds and ideas”. The remix adds another level to Moglii’s original and is sure to turn heads and keep listeners coming back for more.

I was very excited to remix this track because I’m a big fan of Moglii and his sound. I love the way his music sounds so organic and natural, and how he blurs the line in between synthetic and acoustic sounds. I wanted to replicate that and pay homage to it in my remix. That’s why I decided to use an acoustic guitar in order to create that natural sound. I’m very pleased with the way the remix turned out! – Snocker Cot

Moglii is the solo project of 24-year-old producer, singer and jazz pianist Simon Ebener-Holscher. The musician, based in Düsseldorf, Germany, spends his time creating unique productions of warm beats, analogue synthesizers and soulful vocal samples. His modern electronic compositions are often supplemented by acoustic instruments and an organic soundscape, with the help of field recordings of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses.

The debut EP Down Under from Moglii x Novaa can be found here and features the “Mother” single, which has reached over 3 million streams, and the #2 spot on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts.

Joy Again Winter Tour with Rostam

“Fuzz-friendly aesthetic” NME
“Blazing guitar chords that singe into an auburn infused fuzzy pop magnus” – Earmilk
An upbeat poppy garage twirl and a mellow introspection of sound” What Youth

On the heels of their “Kim” + “On A Farm” single package released last month on Never Grow Up Records, Philadelphia five-piece Joy Again announce a North American tour supporting Rostam this winter. Before they hit the road with Rostam, Joy Again will bring their kinetic live energy on a co-headlining tour with Furnsss, set to kick off on November 13th. See below for a full date listing.

Produced by long-time collaborator Caleb Laven (Frank Ocean’s Blonde & Endless), the “Kim” + “On A Farm” single package finds Joy Again honing their creative vision and propelling their artistic output beyond the underground. Emerging with an infectious new sound that truly finds them coming into their own, the band released their debut EP earlier this year which earned praise from the likes of FADER, NME, and DIY Magazine.

Founded in 2015 after its members met in boarding school, Joy Again released debut singles “Looking Out For You” and “How You Feel” on Mom + Pop (US) and Lucky Number (UK). Their vivid storytelling and seemingly effortless command of melody charmed the internet and saw them dubbed a “staple of the Philly basement scene” as they continued to garner attention on the international scale. The band has performed with the likes of Car Seat Headrest, Hinds, Daywave, and Hoops.

Be sure to catch Joy Again in a city near you and stay tuned for more as the band readies their debut full-length.

Video: Milky Chance – “Bad Things” feat. Izzy Bizu

The multiplatinum-certified German duo Milky Chance teamed up with British singer Izzy Bizu for their latest single “Bad Things” which comes complete with a clever new music video. “The inspiration for ‘Bad Things’ came from a feeling of finding yourself repeatedly stuck in the same kind of situation.” explains Clemens, continuing “It’s a tiring, going-around-in-circles-tragedy. In the end, it‘s always up to you to find the way out, but this song is a shout out to that person who’s always there whilst you work it out.”

“Bad Things” is quintessential Milky Chance. The track showcases the band’s talent for combining catchy as hell analogue folk with contemporary electronic production to create real earworms. The message is simple – very good things can happen when you team up with someone else to tackle the difficult stuff life throws at us. Trouble never sounded this good.

Check Her Out: Alissia

Multi-disciplinary musician Alissia is making her debut from behind the boards as a producer. The funk and R&B-tinged “Get Away” video is out now — with the full support of Alissia’s number one fan, the inimitable Bootsy Collins, who raves, “I’m digging Alissia’s new song because it makes me want to pull up a chair and sit with you, baba!”

This young woman has enough talent to have been called to produce, play bass, write and arrange on Bootsy Collins’ upcoming album World Wide Funk, also featuring the likes of Kali Uchis, Bernie Worrell, Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh and Musiq Soulchild. “Working with Bootsy has been an incredible journey and definitely a challenge to push myself harder everyday. Definitely one of the most inspiring projects I have worked on. ‘You got to keep it funky at all times Baba!’”

In addition, Alissia has also been in collaboration with Khalid, Q-Tip, Anderson Paak, Havoc, and more. Given the company she keeps at her Soho-based studio dubbed “The Spaceship,” it’s certain that this young bass prodigy-turned-producer is primed to begin the next chapter in her musical career.

Her latest track “Get Away” carries listeners from hip-hop to disco to funk and beyond. The mood is chill and the groove is locked. Expect more from Alissia this year; whether solo, collaborating with the greats, or teaming up with new talent, she consistently proves that whatever music she creates just feels right.

Newest Love: Palm Springsteen

LA-based Palm Springsteen shares their latest video “She’s Got Claws”. The band explains that it’s about the “macabre sensation of someone metaphorically digging their claws into your love life”. Palm Springsteen is gearing up to release their debut LP, Trouble in Paradise, stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Palm Springsteen is a band, a moniker, a portmanteau, a person, a place, a thing, and Bez from Happy Mondays. It’s interchangeable with the word “grease”, from the song Grease, from the movie Grease. It’s Blow Pop in Space. It’s Alan Vega screaming at Peter Hook to turn up that Jesus and Mary Chain record. It’s a feeling; a combination of ethereal synth, raw guitar, and driving rhythms for an explosive aural experience.

Born in the professional hedonism of Los Angeles, Palm Springsteen draws from elements of new wave, post-punk, synth pop and, ahem, “blow pop” to create something that even E.T. would phone home about.

Ever since that sick eclipse that only looked good in Idaho and Wyoming, 2017 finds Palm Springsteen releasing two new singles, “Sister Sister” and “Hey There Cowgirl,” while working on their upcoming LP, Trouble In Paradise.
