Automagik is a five-piece rock n’ roll outfit from Cincinnati, OH. With a sound inspired by the sunshine-y tones of the Beach Boys, the grizzly groove of the Gorillaz, and the upbeat party pop of Weezer, Automagik aims to arouse feelings of pure candy-coated jubilation and fuel all-night parties of the piñata-smashing variety. Since it’s inception at the end of 2010, the band has made great strides, seeing a few of their signature tunes featured in television programs such as MTV’s Battle of the Exes and ABC’s Rookie Blue, as well as being featured in two levels of the All-Nighters “Pokemon Snap” inspired iPod/iPhone app called “Rock Photographer.” With a new album nearing completion and a tour currently underway, Automagik is hard at work providing the essential soundtrack to anyone’s good time.

New Electric Guest Album, Mondo, Out Tomorrow

Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton–collectively known as Electric Guest have confirmed an April 24 release date (that’s tomorrow!) for their Danger Mouse-produced Downtown Records/Fontana North debut album, Mondo.

Stream: Electric Guest – “This Head I Hold”
The thoroughly unsettling video for album cut “American Daydream,” directed by Jorma Taccone (The Lonely Island, Saturday Night Live), premiered across MTV’s various platforms on January 23.
The duo is set to begin the second leg of their national tour on April 25.

Dearling Physique
Last month, I posted a video from new band Dearling Physique. Now, the Minneapolis band is the “Artist of the Week” this week on MTV’s new music blog, Iggy. Read their Q & A with Domino Davis by clicking here.
The band’s debut album Deadeye Dealer is out now. Also, they’ll be at SXSW on March 15th when they appear as part of the Art Disaster/Fanatic showcase at Beauty Bar. You can grab a couple free mp3’s by clicking here and heading to Last.fm.
The two singles that have been getting the group attention are “Discipline Your Hands” and “Monster,” both of which are the best from Deadeye Dealer. Though I like the idea of the group and think they’re interesting, those are the only two tracks that got more than 2 stars from me. “Sleep and the Heart” almost gave me nightmares from the demonic, scary sounding voices. Otherwise, they have similarities to Depeche Mode, which is a plus; unfortunately, I just couldn’t get as “into” them as I’d hoped.

Newest Love: Deluka
Deluka is the new sensation from the UK. Led by Ellie Innocenti, their songs have already gotten attention all over the place, including on MTV’s “The City” and the 2009 VMAs. Deluka are an English electronic, indie band, whose sound has been likened to nearly every genre from Punk to Disco, Electro to indie and New Wave to No Wave. Deluka’s fresh new sound is the eclectic evolution of Birmingham’s storied pedigree, a perfect storm of fluid electronic beats and hailing rock riffs, pulsating bass and breathtaking vocals.
NME calls it, “Girl-charged electro-skuzz punk, akin to Ladytron snacking on The Killers for brunch.”
They’re set to play a couple shows here in the US this year, and their debut album will be out soon. BUT, until then, click here to listen to the track “Cascade”
