Brand New Music From The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

unnamed (5)

Danish pop powerhouse The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, consisting of Lars Iversen & Mette Lindberg, have recently announced the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, Bring Us Together – set to drop September 16th via Hot Bus/Rough Trade! Having won audiences across the world over with their unique brand of deliciously fun & edgy pop, the Copenhagen duo will deliver eager fans & new listeners alike ten tracks of pure audio bliss.

Bring Us Together first single “My Club” is an instantly catchy pop masterpiece with a psychedelic vibe punctuated by pulsing club beats. Biting lyrics like “tonight, I’ll be the bullet in your gun” are laid atop smooth, melodic horn samples & killer percussion. For a taste of what to expect from the upcoming record, you can give “My Club” a listen below!

Listen: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – “My Club”

Heavily inspired by the two years of non-stop promotional & touring madness (and subsequent sense of isolation) following their previous album, Bring Us Together finds the duo’s desire to explore new musical avenues greater than ever before. As Iversen elaborates, “We wanted to create a heavier and slightly darker atmosphere for this album. The sound is more processed, and less “manual” than before- with more weighting on repetitive beats, bass grooves, chopped-up loops, and a more laidback vocal style.” The result is a sound collage & pop symphony created from equal parts of chopped-up danceable beats, spaced-out synths & bright neon green pop hooks.

Immersed within the Copenhagen music scene, producer & multi-instrumentalist Iversen met Lindberg in 2007. The two would go on to record a debut EP (Around The Bend) & two studio albums, 2009’s Fruit & 2012’s follow-up Out of Frequency. They’ve quickly become one of Denmark’s most prominent musical success stories, selling out venues around the globe & acquiring fans worldwide in the process.

AJR Releasing Debut Album September 30

unnamed (3)

“‘I’m Ready,'” which melds the brothers’ love of Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel harmonies with more contemporary electro-pop influences like fun. and Imagine Dragons, is quickly becoming a bona fide hit.” – Billboard

Emerging pop trio AJR, who is on the verge of becoming one of the biggest and brightest new bands of 2014, will release their full-length debut Living Room on September 30 (AJR Productions/Warner Bros. Records). The 13-track album, which was written, recorded and produced by the band themselves in the living room of their New York City apartment, will feature the hit single “I’m Ready,” an infectious track that is rapidly climbing the Top 40 charts, currently at #29 with over 375k singles sold and 3.75 million YouTube views. AJR is set to appear on NBC’s The Today Show on July 29.

AJR’s NYC-bred Met brothers – Adam (bass/vocals), a 23-year old Columbia graduate, Ryan (guitar/piano/vocals), a bespectacled 20-year old Columbia student who serves as the band’s main songwriter, and Jack (vocals/guitar), the 16-year old force-de-nature who splits time between lead vocals and attending high school in NYC – have seen a meteoric rise in the past year following the self-release of a 5-song EP. Billboard favorably compared the band to the Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel (for the harmonies), Fun. and Imagine Dragons (for the electro-pop influences), while New York Post praised their “sticky-sweet pop melodies with vintage barber shop vocals [and] edgier electronic samples and ‘spokestep’ [aka dubstep breakdowns derived from vocals].”

The viral success of “I’m Ready” won over early champions including SiriusXM – who added the song the day it was released on iTunes – , iHeartRadio, VH1 “Big Morning Buzz,” Billboard and NBC, who featured the song in their Olympic promos. Just last year they opened shows for the likes of The Wanted and Demi Lovato, and recently wrapped a nationwide tour supporting Lindsey Stirling.

AJR got their musical start as kids busking in Central Park and Washington Square, singing Jackson 5 covers, and, later, their own material. They used their earnings to buy musical equipment which they set up in their parents’ living room, where they write, record and produce all of their own music to this day.

Dancing with Imaginary People

Frontman Dylan Von Wagner has a voice that wavers between uncertainty and rock ‘n’ roll confidence, and he’s one of the few modern-day vocalists I have a hard time comparing to anyone else.” – USA Today’s Pop Candy

Imaginary People’s lead vocalist, Dylan Von Wagner, has the kind of voice you don’t hear much anymore: there’s a vibrato to it, and an occasional yelp, and a good-natured snarl, all of which might put the listener in mind of Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis.Interview Magazine

“Sounding like Eddie Veddar and Tiny Tim Harmonizing in a meat cooler, Dylan Von Wagner’s shivering warble grabs you straightaway.”–Rolling Stone

“Von Wagner is a commanding presence, expressive and elegantly bombastic”–Pitchfork

“…as much of a throwback as it is a dance party-starter.”–Nylon

The world we see in Imaginary People’s video for “Miles” is an honest day in New York City, but somehow slightly more fanciful. Perhaps it’s the carefully constructed cinematography, the 80’s boom box perched nostalgically on a shoulder or the radical and unapologetic dancing. As the main character leads us from symmetric backgrounds to a pulsing dance floor, we see how many ways this song can be boogied to.

Imaginary People have created a pure, unadulterated sound, utilizing Dylan Von Wagner’s surprisingly unique vocals, as well as a dance-happy synth and pulsing drums throughout. This track creates a vibe that could easily apply to a sweaty strobe lit dance floor or playing pool in a dimly lit pub. Half blues, half punk, half something completely their own, this video is a perfect match for a sound is as unique as this guy’s dance moves.

With his magnetic presence, it’s difficult to divert your eyes from dancer Menelik Puryear. Von Wagner explains to Pop Candy, “Menelik is dead serious about dancing; he literally danced for seven hours straight and has no problem shaking it in front of anyone.”

Miles is the b-side to the equally as energetic and danceable “Fever Nation,” which premiered earlier this summer.

Listen: Night Drive – Where I End And You Begin (Radiohead Cover)

(Download the track free via the band’s Facebook and Soundcloud pages.)

Night Drive transforms Radiohead’s “Where I End and You Begin” into a pulsing, hypnotic, electro-pop track. The band embraces Radiohead’s moody and brooding vibe while bringing Night Drive’s style of dark, disco-pop fans have dubbed as “Future Wave.”

The cover came about completely by chance. While in the studio working on a new track, Night Drive realized the main groove happen to meld perfectly with a Radiohead track. Fascinated by this marriage, they couldn’t resist the opportunity.

Keep your eyes open. The band releases this cover to announce their new album, scheduled for an early 2015 release. First single, “Young Rivals” to be released this September with an official remix by ASTR and official music video by their ongoing visual collaborators, Lobo Sucio Creative.
