R.E.M. premiered the video for “Every Day Is Yours To Win” on YouTube, a video composed entirely of footage from YouTube. As a bonus, lead singer Michael Stipe and the video’s co-director Jim McKay have posted an intro video featuring a list of their favorite YouTube clips. The “Every Day Is Yours To Win” video is part of the Collapse Into Now Film Project, where artists and filmmakers were asked to create short films for each song on the new R.E.M. album Collapse Into Now.
From what I understand, the video for “Every Day Is Yours To Win” is only supposed to be up for 24 hours, so go check it out now!

French Horn Rebellion (Robert and David Perlick-Molinari) kick off 2011 by announcing the US self-release of their debut album The
Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion on April 19th digitally and May 24th physically (Once Upon A Time Records) and play 27 North American live shows supporting French electro pop outfit Yelle starting 17th April. MySpace Music exclusively premieres the band’s debut early, go here to listen to it.
Written, produced and mixed by Robert and David, ‘The Infinite Music…’ is a debut album that warps the fabric of dance, electro, rock and funk and may just turn out to be a contender for this year’s most ambitious, multi-faceted and engaging debut album. Crucially, the album also follows an intergalactic narrative that tracks the physical and emotional journey of an unknown French Horn player. “There is a story running through the album, it’s about the Universe. We’re pretty clear on what the story is, but what you take away from it may be something entirely different,” says David.
These two unassuming brothers, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have already toured and played with the likes of Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells, The Drums and Cut Copy. The band have also remixed the likes of MEN, Two Door Cinema Club, OMD, Young Empires and Alex Winston.

Detroit indie-pop duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have released “Morning Thought,” the first track off their upcoming full-length debut, It’s A Corporate World, now set for a June 7th release through Quite Scientific Records in conjunction with Warner Bros. Records. The track is available as a free download in exchange for an email address on the band’s website. The band just wrapped up a tour with
Tapes ‘n Tapes and were all over the place at SXSW. Paste caught a great live version of “Vocal Chords” at their showcase, check out the video here. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will then continue across the country on a headlining tour starting May 11th in NYC.
Explosive indie-dance/art-rock five-piece from Brisbane, Australia, Tin Can Radio, are celebrating the release of their debut album, Chase the Sun, Hold the Night with a massive 20 date tour around metropolitan and regional Australia. The tour spans over April and May of 2011.
The debut album, Chase the Sun, Hold the Night, is the accumulation of two acclaimed single-releases and many hard months in the studio. The 11 track LP runs a knife edge between accessible and fun, and ambitious and sonically challenging; journeying through dreamy landscapes, sing-along hooks, punchy guitar driven riffs and grinding dubstep breakdowns. (AWE-SOME!)
Lead singer Tom Wearne explains, “The album is a reflection of our shared struggle in trying to do exactly what we want to do, our attempts to live forever, to never sleep and to have never ending, uncompromised fun. You could say that these are over-riding themes in the songs, but they are also over-riding themes in our lives and the reason why we make this music.”
Check out the video for Mackintosh Braun’s “Could It Be” which was recently on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.
Mackintosh Braun is playing a show with OMD at The Music Box in Hollywood on March 29th. You gotta listen to MB’s remix of OMD’s “Save Me.” (Click here to listen.)
On the track, “Ivy League Circus,” the velvety, 80’s R&B style vocals glide over an elastic, electro-funk groove. The clip was directed by The Wilderness, who also helmed videos for Passion Pit, The Juan MacLean, Antipop Consortium, and Spank Rock.
He has produced songs on both Das Racist mixtapes (“Shorty Said” and “Puerto Rican Cousins”), an official remix of Twin Shadow’s“I Can’t Wait,” and the track “Spring Fever” for battle rap king Iron Solomon.
Gordon has also won the adorations of everyone from indie darlings BRAHMS(who remixed Voidwell’s “Ivy League Circus”) to pop music masterminds like Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson (who declared “I love this shit. I play it on my radio show, in my house AND in my sets.”) Mayer Hawthorne, another fan, even invited Gordon to open his tour this past Fall along with The Heavy. His first full length debut album will be out later this year.
You can grab a free download of the original AND BRAHMS remix of “Ivy League Circus” over at Stereogum: click here!
Brooklyn duo CREEP (producers/DJs Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard) released their debut single, “Days,” yesterday, January 25, through Young Turks. The single features guest vocals by The xx’s Romy Madley-Croft.
“Days” is a ghostly blend of Romy’s ethereal voice and CREEP’s sinister beats, blending tones of goth, shoegaze and R&B to create darkly prophetic and orchestral soundscapes. I’ll keep ya updated on the full album that’s set for release this year.
Whether you know it or not, you know Chilly Gonzales. You’ve for sure seen and heard the commercials for the iPad with that catchy piano tune. The song is called “Never Stop,” and yup, that’s him.
Chilly Gonzales, the notorious (and always brilliant) producer/rapper/world-class pianist is already on a roll in 2011. Check out the Gemini Club remix of “You Can Dance,” which RCRD LBL premiered – head over there for the free download!
Also unleashed last week was the video for “You Can Dance,” which is already over 250,000 views (if you’ve seen it, you know why! Let’s just say T&A). The single, available digitally, features several remixes, including a stellar cut from nineteen-year old blog sensation Robotaki. Other remixes come courtesy of Shadow Dancer, Max Tundra, Edwin Van Cleef,
Cosmonaut Grechko and Popular Computer.
Gonzales is also known as a super-producer of sorts, working with a wide array of artists. Best known for his production work with Feist (whose album The Reminder earned him a Grammy nomination), Peaches and Jamie Lidell, he has more recently worked with Marina & the Diamonds and Tiga…not to mention older collaborations with Bjork and Daft Punk.
Check this out! Here’s a fan made video for a leaked track Neon Hitch recorded with Deadmau5, the anthemic “I Can’t Behave Myself,” has fans and critics pining for more. What isn’t funny about watching cats play the piano?! Nothing!
